flag pole blows right out of it with any kind of wind
this thing needs some type of either a pin that clips into a hole, or a bolt through it to hold the flag pole in.....I put mine in and went inside the house...about an hour later (with very little wind) I got a text from my neighbor that my flag was laying on the ground!!!!! BEING A RETIRED U.S. MARINE I WAS BOTH APPALLED AND ESPECIALLY EMBARRASSED THAT I HAD A U.S. FLAG LAYING ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE.....I went out and picked it up and have not used the stand since then until I have time to drill a hole in both sides and put a nut bolt through it to hold the pole in place.

Very sturdy product
I'll use it to anchor the upright poles for a frame to hang a sheet for attracting insects to an Ultra Violet light in Arizona next summer. Anyone who has tried digging in Arizona soil knows the whole state is made of cracked stone of varying grades from boulder to dust. A robust spike will be needed to drive into that stony ground deep enough to stabilize a blacklighting sheet frame sturdy enough to prevent the sheet from luffing in the night breeze and flicking off desirable insects. Also to withstand unexpected storm winds, which can surprise collectors during the rainy season, especially at night. This ground spike promises to be just the thing. BTW, Amazon also sells generators that can be used to run bug lights, just saying.

The bottom is plugged-up with a washer
So a 1" pole doesn't go thru it. I had to punch that out, which was a pain. Sorry, but I don't get that design feature. I used it to stabilize a 1" birdhouse pole, needed the pole to go all the way thru. Two poles in the ground are maore stable than one. I just don't get the washer welded in it. At least make it optional, removable.

This item has misinformation.
We purchased this item because it was compatible with the 16 ft. telescopic flagpole made by the same manufacturer. The description said it would fit 1.25" diameter flagpole. It does not! Now we have the inconvenience of searching for another and returning this item.

It works beautifully.
We've had these in front of our business for about 8 months now. They're used for flutter flags. They seem unaffected by strong winds and bad weather, both of which we have constantly since we live in a semi-tropical climate. This item is a great product.

Very Sturdy
It was difficult for me to get in ground. Didnt get it down all the way. Hard to hammer a metal object onto Texas clay. Use piece of 2×4 between it and hammer.

Perfect
I needed this to hold up two wooden poles for a dayshade and not worry wind or an errant foot knocking them over. They worked perfect for a 1" wooden dowel. I will say that the spike is quite long, so use something a bit heavier than a rubber mallet to pound them in. Otherwise, I'm very pleased and would recommend to anyone.
