Kartboy KB-001-LEG-WRX08 Short Shifters

Installed in under an frustrating hour ( retaining clip problems ) feels way more satisfying as it clunks into gear rather then the slop I had before. Noticeably shorter. Shifter linkage rubs on the rubber sub boot making a lil squeak NBD but yeah. Installed with a 1lb shift knob. Worth it.

The short throw shifter, in my opinion, should be the first mod any turbo subaru owner does. The stock shifter is downright sloppy and takes away a lot from the driving experience. A short throw shifter shortens both the height of the shifter and the length in between the gears, making for a much faster shift. It will also give a more precise action when going into gear. The Kartboy lever is super well made and the cheapest way to get a short throw shifter. I would also recommend the Kartboy Subaru Rear Shifter Bushing #5777 and Kartboy Shifter Bushings Subaru 5 Speed to really tighten up the shifter and make it precise.

I really like it but.....the height is still to high! I was hoping it would have sat lower. The threads do seem to be different from the stock shifter which sucks because I had to return an aftermarket shift knob that was the same size as the stock shifter. The threads on this kart boy is a size bigger. Stock knob will fit. Because it is plastic inside and the metal direct fit stock aftermarket shifter will not fit.

Definitely reduced the throw of my shift. Makes my base model impreza "feel" more sporty. I just wish it wouldn't have costed so much, or at least come with new bushings. Anyways, it does the job it's meant to do.

it does shorten the distance between gears but I still had to hack off about an inch of the threads because the shifter was too tall. Be sure to get the front and rear bushings as well, they make a big difference.

It gives it a nice sporty notchy feel, which is very satisfying when you change gears. Install time was a half hour just follow some YouTube tutorials and its a breeze. You will need a pair of snap clip pliers, a screwdriver, a 12mm wrench and 12mm socket wrench. Fast shipping from the seller also.
