Sweet, captivating, funny and mystery filled story.
I overlooked this book 3 or 4 times, but after reading The Undomesticat Goddess, and can you keep a Secret, I needed another taste of Sophie Kinsella penmanship.I wanted to stop reading in it in the first chapter. I couldn't see where this was going, but I pushed through and I'm glad I did. I was resolved to continue reading until the mystery of the necklace was solved. I fell in love with Sadie, I wanted to slap Lara a few times too. This is a great story, I finished it in the dentists office and had to stop myself from shedding tears at the end.Read it and press through you won't be disappointed.

My favorite fiction book
I almost never read fiction books, especially "girlie" fiction books, but this book had me hooked from the first page! I recommend it to all my friends, I've bought copies for others as well. Highly recommend it for a super cute light read- great vacation book.

A Do Over To Remember
I adored this story , I laughed , I cried , it was too hard to put down. It seems most people tend to ignore their older relatives, only truly caring about them when need something ... even after they are gone. This story to me was a reminder to cherish my older relatives while they are still here , because unlike our character, we won't get a second chance to do it. I highly recommend this book .

Fun and full of life!
I loved the book, it was funny and touching at the same time. I loved the connection to the past, in terms of the present.I felt a connection especially because I just visited my 101 year old aunt, who is in a nursing home. I remember her as taking care of everyone, so full of humor and so full of life. It is sad to see her old. Even in her 90's she was full of life and worried about how her hair looked. All her family and friends that she grew up with have passed. When I see her, it is hard to reconcile her with the Aunt that I knew and loved. She is nothing like her anymore age has taken away her youth and vigor. I certainly identified with a major component of the plot- that people who are very old, have had wonderful brilliant pasts.... even though age has taken away their vigor. This book was a wonderful fun book full of laughs and events that make us look more into our own lives. I loved the connection to the past and the discoveries that the protagonist makes. The path that the characters take and their growth is also very well done, and balanced- not preachy. I was disappointed that the book came to an end.

Contrived, shallow, not particularly funny
Since I have read and liked "Undomestic Goddess" from Sophie Kinsella, I expected a similar high quality in this book, but was disappointed. Particularly disappointing is the character of the heroine Lara. She sounds fickle-minded and shallow, but towards the end her character changes for the better. I guess the author whats to show a big contrast in Lara's behavior to emphasize the impact of the ghost suddenly appearing in her life. Even considering it is already in the realm of unbelievable, I found the characters not well sketched out. You really need to suspend any rational thought to believe the story line of how Lara meets the hero of the story. The way Lara seems to keep talking to herself, and Sadie, the ghostly great-aunt, "screams" to make people hear her... it is all a bit too much. Even the mystery/suspense part of the story is highly contrived (without going into details that would spoil the suspense!).It's a light book alright, but unfortunately I did not find it humorous. I couldn't get past the thought that it was all ridiculously unbelievable.

A new favorite!
I've always loved Kinsella's "Shopaholic" books! I think they are simply outstanding! For some reason, however, I've found it hard to get into her stand-alone novels. But, NOT the case here! TWENTIES GIRL is simply wonderful - and I'm SO glad I bought myself a copy!!TWENTIES GIRL is about Lara Lington and her great-aunt Sophie. However, the book starts with Sophie's funeral. So, how is the book about Lara AND Sophie? Sophie's a ghost of course! Or, is she Lara's guardian angel? Either way, Lara finds herself on a mission to track down Sophie's much beloved necklace in order for her, Sophie, to be at peace. What ensues, however, is so much more! I'm honestly not sure how Kinsella managed to pack in so many delightful details, much less how she made them all feel completely satisfying and complete.Though Sophie lives to be 105, she appears to Lara as she remembers herself, as she always felt she was, 23 years old, vivid, spunky, and loads of fun. The relationship that builds between Sophie and Lara is simply perfect, and they both really deserve each other (for better and worse). It's soon becomes clear that there's so much more to Sophie than a lost necklace. And it's soon clear that there's more to Lara than being haunted - there's her jumbled career, her ex-boyfriend, her caring parents, and her egotistical, hugely successful uncle.A delightful bonus, is that I actually really like the "leading man" in this book (usually I'm only so-so about Kinsella's men, but this one is definitely much more my type!) I think the refreshing thing about this book, though, is that it's so much more than a romance! And it's so much more than a mystery! It's truly a book about friendship and appreciating the people in your life.I laughed so many times when reading - and yes, I even cried. I'm not sure how Kinsella does it - there never seems to be extensive explanations or descriptions, but I always feel I have a total understanding of the characters and their world, and I feel completely connected, like they are my friends.Highly recommended!!! :D

A really fun read!
Sophie Kinsella has an easily recognizable voice in her work, but this doesn't necessarily work against her. That voice is authentic and charming, and less ditzy in this boomtown in others she's written.I loved the ghost aspect of the book, and the interplay between the two main characters. It's an enjoyable read all the way through, leaving me wanting even more Supernatural Sophie.

Ghosts aren't really my thing but I stuck with it and I'm so glad I did - tally-ho!
I have really enjoyed many of Sophie Kinsella's books like Can you Keep a Secret (my favourite), The Undomestic Goddess (my second favourite), Remember Me and I've Got Your Number. However I don't care for the Shopaholic series (I find the main character a little irritating and get tired of the constant shopping references). So I wondered what I'd make of a chick-lit with a ghost in it (I'm not keen on ghosts). Although I didn't really get into it to start with, I decided to stick with it and very soon I found myself really enjoying it. It really feels like a proper SK chick-lit, just that one of the main characters is a ghost. It's quite quirky with lots of references to the 1920s, it's lots of fun and heartwarming. Of course like all of these books it's has its cringe moments and is pretty predictable but if you like SK try it, it will probably grow on you - it's actually my third favourite SK book.

The BEST from Sophie KInsella!
This is without doubt the BEST book I have read by Sophie Kinsella (and I've read 99% of them!) I read it originally in paperback and couldn't resist buying it again when it came on special offer for my Kindle. This book is funny but at the same time really makes you think about elderly people in care homes. They maybe sitting there, asleep, watching telly or looking into space, BUT they were once young and had a life. What stories they could tell you. They want to be remembered how they were, not how they are now. I may be rambling but read this book and you will understand. :-)

Beautiful story
If you suddenly had a friend that only you could see or hear, what would you do?You could worry that your stressful life has tipped you over the edge and you have lost the plot, but time... or•You could have some fun...•You could make your ex boyfriend take you back...•You could solve the mystery dragonfly necklace, Male a fool of yourself many times, get you business back on its feet...•You could dance with a gorgeous man who you just can’t resist •You could discover the best friend you never had.Review:A beautiful and emotionally written novel. It captured my imagination as soon as I started reading it! It is so funny and also touching. The characters are amazing and I loved every one of them!It also makes you think of the elderly people in care homes and how a lot of them don’t have families around. They may just be in a chair, not doing anything, but they were young once, they had some amazing stories to tell and Sadie is one of them! It’s a beautiful story and found myself crying towards the end! I love how Sophie Kinsella can write such lovely novels! Although some of them aren’t my favourite, I still think she’s very talented!

Not for me!
Thought I would give Sophie Kinsella a go as had heard of her on a TV quiz show. Not for me at all! Didn't get much past the first 50 of so pages and didn't find it the least bit funny. Ridiculous more like. Everything is so over the top and quite impossible to imagine any sane person behaving the way these characters do. Didn't waste any more time with it, one for the charity shop! Won't be reading any more from this author, not a patch on someone like Liane Moriarty - now she's an author that can combine humour with a really great story!

Absolutely brilliant, totally captivating
Captured my imagination from page 1 and I didn't it to end. The characters are delightful. It is hilariously funny, but very touching as well and I was in tears at the end. Just a wonderful portrait of the twenties and the current times. Magic
