Q: would i really need 2 of the marine ones for a 90 litre tank

One should do you just fine. I was recommended 6 for my 400l but I have 2 of the more powerful ones and it covers it well. One of them should be just fine as long as you pick the right one for the type of tank you use

Q: I have a freshwater tank but need the full spectrum colours of the saltwater version, is it okay to use the saltwater one on my freshwater tank?

I dont see why not. I have the saltwater version in the sump area of my salwater tank. I thin the saltwater version is more corrosion resistant for the salt environment. Only had it in place for about a month but so far its working out fine.
