Great product, came as advertised
I bought these to see how appropriate they would be for camping before putting I. A bullet oder. First off, I'm leaving a five star review because the product received matched the description (and in the world if military surplus that's not always guarenteed). As far as I'm concerned anything beyond that is gravy, but I'll leave some more details for people unfamiliar with MREs.These packs are designed for active duty soldiers, so one contains ALOT of calories, certainly more than I eat in a sitting. Each pack contains a variety of foods in addition to the entree, usually a healthy snack and a desert item, as well as things like instant coffee or fruit punch. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the snacks and desert items (and to find that the US military agrees that apple jelly is the best jelly). There's not a lot of love out there for MRE entrees, but they get the job done and have a good amount of protein, and personally I thought they tasted fine.As for utility in a camping situation, I would say these are better for short trips or as survival rations. They are heavier than a lot of the freeze dried options out there, and beyond a two day trip the weight advantage of not carrying a stove would be negated. They are also generate a fair bit of trash. However, they are ideal for a day trip, having hot food is always nice, and with the aforementioned calorie count one of these is enough for lunch and trail snacks for one person. They are also great for cqmping trips with kids, who always seem to get a kick out of the chemical heating element/ eating what soldiers eat. I also think they make great survival rations for short term situations, like blizzards and hurricane. Using a camp stove inside is not advisable, and hot food can really lift spirits in the event of a power outage. Overall I'd say if your on the fence, go ahead and order a few to try out for yourself, but I personally plan to buy a case after my initial impression.

one of them was really old and some of the items inside were way past the expiration date despite what date they stamped on the outside.

Slightly dated MRE's
Bought a 4 pack of the MRE's, and they were all recently dated with stickers from the seller, Ozark Outdoorz, but inside they were much older. In one of the MRE's I had a bag of Reese's pieces best by date 5/18. One of them the heater worked, but it took it a little longer to get up to temp. I ate all but 1 and did not appear to get sick by any of them. The one I did not eat was White Chicken chunks because when I went to open the bag it opened really easy and felt resealed. Inside the bag the heater was missing, the heater bag and the fork/spoon was also missing (but the empty bag for the fork/spoon was conveniently placed back into the MRE)With this being the case I decided against eating the chicken, even though that bag appeared to be sealed.Overall they got the job done out in the woods with no access to elec, running water, etc. but not entirely what I expected. Really torn between 2 and 3 stars on this one.

Good - But I'm unlucky.
MRE's are great. I will keep them as emergency food in my car or in my house. However, the last several times I've ordered, I've gotten Vegetarian Taco Pasta every single time. In the Army, you get what you get, and you get smoked if you throw a fit, so it's not a big deal to me. But either way, that's nobody's fault. However, I'd like to have more variety than Vegetarian Taco Pasta in the event of an emergency situation. Everywhere on this listing states you get a random menu, if that's your chief complaint, that's your own fault. If you want to buy Cheese Tortellini or Chilli Mac, you can for an additional $2-$3. But going forward I will have to buy from Sopakco and other sellers.

Buy them and stash them away
Every home should have some of these stashed away.We keep a few of these and a case of bottled water in the back of the pantry for emergencies. Every couple of years we will order replacements and use the old ones to have a "C-Rat" party with our grandsons. For those who don't know, these are about a million times better than "C-Rats".We had a 3 day power outage from a winter storm and were very grateful that these were available.

Very fresh, awesome price, and great quality
A really good value here. I purchased the 4 pack. Received Chicken Stew, Spaghetti w/Meat Sauce(outer bag was open), Macaroni with Tomato Sauce, and Hash browns with Bacon!! I was pretty excited when I seen that one. Most places are sold out of the hash browns. And to get 4 MRE's for around $30.....you can't beat that with a stick! These all had entree package dates of 2017. Very fresh! My only "complaint" is that there is no coffee, creamer, and sugar. I've noticed this when they come from Ozark Outdoorz. I don't know what's going on with that. Other than that, this is a genuine Military MRE for a crazy low Price! Buy em up while you can!

pretty good
So the MRE I got was not the one pictured, I got menu 15 mexican style chicken stew.the meal itself was really good, wouldn't mind having a couple dozen of these at home 'just in case'.issues:1) Didn't get the meal I was expecting2) The heater didn't work well on this one, basically only the bottom element heated up. I did follow the instructions to the letter. (I microwaved it, it got warm just not really hot, not the end of the world)3) I watched several videos of people reviewing this specific one, and in each there was M&M's, this one did not have any. Not that I care about M&M's but it's odd after watching several videos on this meal with everything else being in there that this would be in item missing.I would buy the meal again, probably from somewhere local though.
