NOT AS CLAIMED
I bought the book because it offered "Proven Tactics and Dynamic Strategies for Protective Practices Success". While it contains recommendations based on the analysis of an experienced operator I couldn't find anything in the book that resembles proven tactics or dynamic strategies. The worth of the book can be illustrated by just one of its many bold and italicized conclusions:"When it comes to defending the life of a Principal against violent attack, a CPO must not only have the capability to effectively defend him/herself but also the Principal that he/she is protecting."Didn't need to pay $28 for information that never really passed the above level of uselessness.Gavin De Becker's Just 2 Seconds provides very well researched tactics/strategies for preventing assassinations. Its well worth the money unlike Schneider's Beyond the Bodyguard. If you're reading this review Mr Schneider I wouldn't mind a refund thanks.

Practical Guide
I think this book is a much needed practical guide for the Close Protection Manager. It gives a straight forward insight into the world of a Close Protector. Not only is it a valuable guide for the more experienced Close Protector who wants to get involved in Management but it also gives an insight in the industry for the "would be" Protector. This book is recommended to be used in training.

Based on over 20 interviews and 3 years study of how to professionalize the Close Protection Industry
This book is based on extensive research to determine the current operational skills requirements for Close Protection Operatives (CPO’s). It is more academic than most such books in the field and for that reason it stands out. There are a lot of great books which talk about strategies, tactics, tools and techniques from a 'how-to' perspective and those are ideal books for someone who is new to close personal protection (CPP).Gavriel Schneider's book addresses the question of "What are the necessary operational skills requirements of and training standards for Close Protection officers operating in the global market?"Don't read this book if you want to learn the basics of close protection. Start with a training courses (OK, maybe start with Chapter 4 of this book) and other more hands-on books on this topic. So who should read this book?Definitely recommended reading if you fall into one of the following categories:- You are thinking of working in CPP and want to find out what the job and industry is all about and whether or not you have the ideal attributes- You are building a training program for CPP or running a professional CPP service- You need to develop a training needs analysis (TNA) for a CPP team- You are looking for good reference material for university studies, to write a book or to build a business case for funding CPP- You are a recruiter or HR professional who wants to understand the selection criteria and qualities of a good CPP operator- You have been working in CPP for some time already and want to round out your understanding of your chosen profession with detailed insights and some checklists for assessing your own skill gaps or training needsIn short, Schneider's book is a comprehensive compendium of the attributes of a CPP operator. The chapter headings cover:1. BACKGROUND2. A VIEW INSIDE THE CLOSE PROTECTION INDUSTRY3. UNDERSTANDING WHAT MAKES A CPO4. HOW TO SELECT THE RIGHT TRAINER & THE BEST TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOU5. PERCEPTIONS ABOUT CLOSE PROTECTION6. TERRORISM, THE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AND CLOSE PROTECTION7. TECHNOLOGY, COMMUNICATION AND CLOSE PROTECTION8. USE OF FORCE OPTIONS AND CLOSE PROTECTION9. FORWARD THINKING, ADAPTABILITY AND THE NEED FOR A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO CLOSE PROTECTION10. RECOMMENDATIONS ON STANDARDS FOR CLOSE PROTECTION TRAININGLIST OF REFERENCES
