Dremel 4486 Keyless Chuck

Works well. So much easier and faster than nut and collet. Works just like you would think for a chuck in a drill motor.

This is a great little chuck. I don't use it on a drummel. I use it on my woodlath so that I can put drills, very small drills in the chuck. I mounted this chuck in the woodlath chuck for drilling holes in the end of wood.

The Dremel 4486 MultiPro Keyless Chuck is one of the most essential for rotary tools. I was able to pair this well with my now discontinued Black & Decker RTX-6 2 Amp 3-Speed Rotary Tool and it did wonders. This keyless chuck has been a god send to me to taking bits out and putting drill bits in with ease. This keyless chuck also works well with Dremel Flex Shaft Rotary Tool when you mount it at the end of the shaft. do not quickly dismiss a little piece of attachment add-on like this one. I assure you that once you have this in hand and add that onto your rotary tools, you'll love your tool even more. Make sure you screw the attachment in passively or else when you increase the rotary speed, the attachment can seriously snap and hurt you if it has an uneven weight distribution, although it has never happened to me. Do check for compatibility if your rotary tool can fit this attachment as some don't quite do well with other brands. I was lucky that I've did some research that this attachment fits perfectly well with the Black & Decker RTX-6 2 Amp 3-Speed Rotary Tool (one of the best bang for buck rotary tools). As for the value for money, you can't quite complain much as the Dremel branding has been the staple and known for their rotary tools and their build quality is no exception. of course the anodize black coating will lose its color over time, but hey, its made to be used as a tool and not a paper weight. Purchased this product since 2011 and still working like a charm.

This chuck does exactly what it claims and is simple, but well made and it closes up precisely. I do have 2 issues with it. First- it would be nice if its capacity was maybe 5-6 mm instead of 3.3 (1/8 in) for use with small drills. Second- My Dremel 4000 came with the EZ Twist nose cap, which has a steel disc insert with flat spots which can engage the flats on the collet nut, saving having to find the little wrench. (see picture- black line & blue line.) The chuck also has flats- see red line on picture. BUT the rounded area where the flats are ground is too big in diameter to fit into the rounded part of the hole in the nose cap! Distance across the flats is not a problem - 9.75 mm on the nose cap interior- 9.57 mm on chuck, and 9.44mm (a bit sloppy) on the collet nut (your mileage may vary!) Because of this, the EZ Twist does not work with the chuck, but the design could be easily changed. MY SOLUTION- two parts- put chuck on tool (without nose cap) run the tool and carefully hold a diamond file against that shoulder to reduce its diameter. I also used a rounded diamond file to enlarge only the curved parts of the hole in the nose cap. Be Careful! Measure and test fit a lot, you can overdo it.... If Dremel would increase the size and fix the nose cap fitment this would get all 5s from me!!!!

Great for rotary tool drill bits and smaller madrels used by jeweler burs, points and cutoff discs. Fits the Bauer 8V Cordless rotary tool. Saves time by not having to find and play around with different collets.

Easy to install. Works as one would hope. Allows your Drexel to function with virtually no limitation of bit size. Wish I had gotten one sooner. Game changer.
