Hard to find album
I fell in love with Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart's rendition of People Get Ready and want it played at my funeral. Looked for it for years and finally found it.

Jeff in the 80s
I've been a die hard fan of Jeff Beck since the mid 60s. Think he's still amazing and a true original. I can still listen to some of his previous and more current material and enjoy them immensely. Flash, to me, is my least favorite. I liked it for about a month when I purchased it when it was released. Throughout the years, the sound has become quite dated with the echo synth drum for most of the songs. Jeff's guitar is crisp, precise and brilliant but that synth sound is too distracting. Flash shines in People Get Ready with Rod Stewart. This song hearkens back to one of Jeff's best- Truth. Aside from the synth sound, the vocals are dated as well- in the sense that it really sounds like a cheesy 80's record that everyone put out during this time period. For those that like that sound, you'll like this album which is accented with some great guitar.

it's not the video version
What I bought this disc for... and what it doesn't have... is the "Ambition" performance I heard on the Music Video. There is nothing wrong with this cd... it just doesn't have the same approach to "Ambition" as the Music Video that featured a great cast of singers....as we all know Jeff has always found the best vocalists for his music and the selections for the Video was pure inspiration.Donny Osmond earned his Rock n Roll degree on the video version while sharing it with a cast of others. But as far as I could find... that version is not on any cd anywhere. So in that respect it was a little disappointing.

Welcome to the 80's
Not that this is anywhere near a pop album, but his guitar work wasn't really in the forefront of this record (which isn't too bad of a thing since he had some pretty good singers on the record). Only a couple of decent solos... did have more soul & funk attached to it. Yeah, I'm being unfair in my comparison, but I thought he was trying to bring MTV to him vice bringing his music to MTV... & what does he do?? .... lead w/People Get Ready w/Rod Stewart who was already in bed w/MTV. Carmine Appice does some nice work on this record.

THE WORST THING BECK'S BEEN INVOLVED IN
This LP is a must only for completists and hardcore fans, especially those that want to hear Beck sing again (he's on two tracks).Beck's solo work is excellent-- even the addition of Jimmy Hall's histrionic vocals can't diminish the sheer audacity and skill of one of the best guitarists in the world. Hall's not a bad singer-- he's amazing-- yet it seems his vocal style was of its period. Up against Rod Stewart, there's no comparison. The track 'People Get Ready' is phenomenal, and should've been a bigger hit.Check out the second track to get an idea of what Beck might've sounded like firing up an Eighties Hair Metal band (via Mike Oldfield). While the song itself is rubbish, there's something to be gained from hearing it.The rest is dross, and suffers particularly because it's bracketed by two of Beck's best albums, 'There And Back' and 'Guitar Shop'.Oh, and while it's been re-released, it hasn't been remastered.

Jeff Beck Flash
A must have from Jeff Beck, back in the heydays of the 80's. With help from Rod Stewart, Niles Rogers, Jimmy Hall, and Tony Hymas, and others, Jeff is able to expand himself again. "Gets Us All In The End" and "Ecstasy" are great. and Rod singing "People Get Ready", makes this effort a must have.

Great playing but sounds dated now
This is an album rarely featured in any Jeff Beck discography. His collaboration with Nile Rodgers is something Beck just doesn't talk about. It contains a definitive version of Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready with Rod Stewart singing as well as he ever has.The rest of the tracks are very dated and sound like b-movie soundtracks now. A pity - but worth it just for the Mayfield track!

This is not a new JEFF BECK disc it was made in the 70s and is NOT up to snuff
While there is a couple of good tracks on this disc i would not pay more than 10.00 bucks for this disc. It really is not a really great effort by JB. A rare failure in a forest of grand efforts by this one of my greatest heroes of the guitar.

Perfetto.

Escape"、”Stop、Look And Listen”、“You Know, We Know”でのギターは35年経過した今でも耳に残るフレージングです。
