Good book, but too much tennis description
This a very good and comprehensive biography. I think it had too much tennis description on every single match there was... But very good

Plenty of play-by-play!
While I enjoy reading about how great a tennis player Rafa is and all that he is accomplishing, and certainly appreciate the intimate details of his most impressive wins, I found the book rather lacking in the 'personal touch'. His heroics on the court are well documented (and most I've seen first-hand) so I was intrigued by the title of the book to gain more knowledge about the person himself: the toddler with a racket, the young Rafa at home, personal stories with his family and friends growing up in Majorca, his thoughts and personal views of life and the world around him. Those that enjoy reading sports chronology and especially, in-depth tennis analysis .. this is the book for you. The biography is rich in exquisite "play by play" from some of the most dynamic tennis matches of all time.

I didn't get bored reading about his sports life journey from childhood to ...
I'm a big fan of Rafa Nadal. To me, this bio is everything it should be. Readable, informative, honest, and engaging. I didn't get bored reading about his sports life journey from childhood to the present. His outlook is positive even when things maybe aren't so great. His family oriented values, and Uncle Tony, have given him guidelines to follow and goals to seek and pursue in his chosen career of Tennis. I think the book portrays a young man who works hard daily to improve himself and participate with his mind, body, and spirit in whatever he undertakes to be the very best that he can be. Certainly someone to inspire others to do likewise; and he does it with class. Bravo Rafa.

Match Summary - Not a Biography
Overall, this book is not a biography. It is simply a match summary from Nadal's debut through 2009. Imagine reading the sports page after every Nadal match and this is exactly what you have here. It's a high level review of each match, with more focus on the finals, and a few details about each set. The Wimbledon finals take a front row seat and cover the most pages. Despite Nadal's dominance on clay, Roland Garros is brief. This book has VERY minimal personal details; and zero coverage on training, sponsor relationships, equipment, technical style, or anything not match related. All qoutes are verbatim from interviews with news organizations (and credited as such).Since this is 272 pages of match summaries by the same person, the cliched analogies and descriptions get tedious after awhile. Despite being a huge Nadal fan I sometimes almost forgot what match was being described as they all sounded the same after 100 pages. I am not even sure if the author knows that much about tennis. As there is very little in print about Nadal, the book was worth my time. However, if you really want to know about Nadal, pick up "Strokes of Genius" by Wertheim. It is much more thorough, has terrific insight, and is a much more enjoyable read.

Matches chronicled with exactness, but...
I'm a huge Rafa fan, so I was excited to get this book. Tom Oldfield did a superb job describing, with exactness, the matches Rafa has won, point by point, win by win, or loss by loss. But I was really disappointed when didn't write at all about Rafa the person or how his career began. I was hoping to get to know more about him and gain some insight.

Rafa autobiography
A good read, though a lot of info that any fan would already know, but equally a lot of detailed match information that some might find over the top

Rafael Nadal
This book was disappointing, poorly written, just a lot of facts not interesting and I didn't finish it. Book in good condition though and as described would use this seller again.

Rafael Nadal The Biography
A bit boring, rather a written report of his matches. Needs more of his actul life, his thoughts, his friends.
