This real licorice is the freshest,softest and best flavor,my granny got me hooked on licorice babies 65 yrs. ago so i’ve tried all these years to find the best flavor possible Darrel Lea is at the top of my list and has been for several years now! Every now n then I’ll get a not so fresh bag yet the next one is just fine,us humans have never rotated stock out often enough so I tend to give it a pass,it’s a common problem in all food types.

I made a Gork inquiry to find the best Liquorice that offered natural and non-Gmo ingredients. Darrell Lea's name was on the small list. So I ordered a 30 0z bag of mixed flavors. I was not disappointed. The Mango, Apple, and Strawberry flavors were very pronounced and satisfying. I will purchase again.

I have purchased this before, and it was excellent. However, not this time. The licorice was the same softness ("freshness") as before but tasted like dish soap (that same "after-taste when a glass hasn't been rinsed well I could smell it when still unopened and inside the unopened bubble-wrap mailing envelope it came in. I thought at the time that the mailing package must have gotten something on it, but the soapy-smelling odor became stronger as I opened the mailer package, and was stronger, yet, when opening the the actual candy package.I admit that my olfactory sense is strong and gave the benefit of the doubt and first ate 1 piece, then 3 at a time more for a total of 4 pieces to see If I was nuts, which was ignorant ant stupid. I must have been nuts to tast it at all, much less eating 3cpieces more. I spat out the 3 pieces I tossed in my mouth.It all had a taste as if dish soap had been lightly lightly drizzled on it. So, I tightly sealed the candy package and threw it in a trash bag, where it still resides in my living room awaiting to be taken out to the trash.I fortunately did not get sick but felt slightly sick to my stomache. However, I did not vomit. Chances are that the mental thought of it got the best of me.Obviously, I would be foolish to buy more. The cost is high, but it was really good in the past. I am not looking for remuneration. Complaining goes against my grain, but I would be remiss not to be informative about the bad taste of this batch of candy.

I bought the 1.925 Pound Bulk Bag of Apple. The flavor was exactly what I expected. The surface isn't as "dry" as Twizzlers but it wasn't overtly sticky. It sticks a bit to teeth but overall absolutely no issues with the product. In my opinion the flavor was great.I wasn't in a hurry so I let Amazon ship it together with 2 other orders. All three items were together is a very large box with nothing in the way of dunnage. Normally that wouldn't be an issue but the bag of licorice looked as if it was tossed in, the bottom of the licorice bag seams split open and 20 percent of the product was loose in the Amazon box. It was very disappointing after waiting around a week for it to arrive.If it was partially due to the way the Darrell Lea bag was packed it was the bulk bag, almost 2 pounds, and it was specifically the bottom, judging by the label orientation, and finally the seams just appeared to separate without the plastic wrap itself splitting.I didn't ask to return it because I had waited so long but it wasn't a good experience. I don't typically reduce a product rating review due to a shipping issue but this seems like something which could happen again if the shipping doesn't recognized the product packaging potential durability.

This is the best licorice brand I've tried. I'm allergic to corn, so anything with high fructose corn syrup or any derivative of corn is avoided. This is free of the aforementioned. It's soft, so it's easy to chew, and the flavor is perfect in my book. I love black licorice, but I know that many people do not share this love. So, if you do, you won't go wrong with this brand. It's always fresh and I've never come across any sticky or melted licorice in these packages, as of yet. I highly recommend this Darrell Lea Australian licorice.
