POC, Ventral Air Spin Bike Helmet for Road Cycling

I purchased a large in the orange color.This replaced a ~2006 Bell helmet that had served me well but after more than 15,000 miles and 13 years it was time for a replacement. I expect this helmet to last 3 times as long considering it cost more than 3 times as much.Fit: I have about a 58CM head so I am right at the limit of the medium size. My Bell was a medium but I opted for the large as I couldn't find an LBS that carried this model so that I could try it on. I even had LBS try to order both sizes for me but they couldn't get it done. In the end I still don't know if the large is the best for me.The large does fit snug but it has plenty of room. I'm almost certain that the medium would have fit and it would have been lighter. However, the large has been nice for the extra space. My gutter band has not been pinching and I will have space for a winter beanie if necessary.The ride:The ventilation is a welcome upgrade. I suffer greatly in the heat and this helmet is as airy as I could imagine. The added benefit being that apparently it has really good aerodynamics which I think I've noticed already.The straps:Went with POC for the straps. No more twisted strap. Their strap design fits flush along the cheek. However, I am concerned that the strap material is too soft. While it feels nice against the skin, I don't know that it is going to hold up to the abuse that I am going to give it. We will see.I've seen comments about an issue with the fit of the straps. Not sure what that has been about. I've noticed no issue.Other thoughts.I love the orange. It will help alert drivers and it is going to look pretty cool when it starts to fade. Being able to comfortably place my sunglasses in the helmet with ease is a very welcome change. I considered knocking off a star for the price because it is very expensive but ultimately I have no remorse.Will update if I find a reason to.Update 6/4/20: Still loving this helmet!

I researched a LOT of helmets before this purchase and I’m very delighted with my POC helmet! The look of this helmet is streamlined and is very different, yet so much better than traditional styling. It’s actually very stylish and not at all as ugly as past cycling helmets, I expect ALL makers to follow suit and soon be offering the same styling! I measured my head as suggested and out of the box the fit was perfect! I could not feel this helmet on my head for a 32 mile ride, that’s how light & unobtrusive it is. I rated this helmet a 1 for warmth because it’s NOT a helmet designed to be warm, it’s designed for airflow and use in warmer climates, however I live in central/southern Utah and made this purchase the end of November when temps have been 41F to 54F...all I did was add a cap with ear flaps under the helmet and I was toasty warm! So far this has been a perfect helmet for me, my only regret is that I didn’t purchase the POC goggles that match and fit the helmet at the same time I bought the helmet. Truly my most exciting cycling purchase to date outside of my new Trek bike!

I ordered the medium, and initially worried when I tried it on that I needed a large. But, that did not turn out to be the case. The helmet fits very nicely and securely. It's a tad heavier than the Giro Aero it replaces, but it feels more substantial. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Giro, and it looked sexier than the new one, but I like the feeling of added security with the POC. And the ventilation is very nice for the Texas heat.

Very nice helmet. Super light and comfortable. I like that the buckle for the chinstrap is offset so it doesn't rub against my chin and sits a little to the side of my jaw bone. My head measures 22" and I ordered a large first (it was the only size/color on sale) but it was comically too large and made my head look like a mushroom. I returned it to backcountry and got a medium from another vendor that fit perfectly. The only downside is the price. For this price I almost hoped it would massage my scalp while riding, but it doesn't. It is however extremely comfortable and almost disappears on your head.

Completamente decepcionado con el producto recibido ya que hace unos meses atrás decidí invertir en este casco pagando un precio apreciable en mi seguridad y en un producto original, el cual no lo es. Comparando las fotos del mismo modelo en la homepage de POC se percibe claramente que el entramado de las cintas de amarre es completamente diferente hasta en el gruesor de las misma siendo el producto recibido más delgado. El broche de cierre es diferente siendo este de mala calidad y no corresponde al mismo de la página web de POC. Procederé a la devolución del mismo ya que mi seguridad no tiene precio. El casco lo escogí porque esta avalado por los estándares de seguridad de VOLVO, en todo caso el original.....

Nice helmet, light, comfortable, etc. All good on that front.Fell off and bumped my head. Walked away fine - also goos. But when I asked POC about a crash replacement discount they said they could give me a discount code for their website, but that their website won't ship outside of Europe (I live in Hong Kong, so no good to me, basically).Hence the 3 stars. Helmet itself would have got 5.

I bought this POC Ventral Air Spin on-line because it's not available yet in New Zealand cycle shops. It's 'state of the art' technology and is equally suitable for road and mtb. I also wear Smith bike and ski helmets and am pleased to say that the POC fits equally as comfortable as Smith. Don't balk at the cost of protecting your head. The freight service to NZ was impressive, just 14 days delivery and I was advised where the helmet was every step of the journey. Thank you Amazon and Global UPS!

Probably best helmet I’ve owned. Super light and cool. I also like the very visible orange color.

I received this helmet very quickly after my purchase. It arrived in perfect condition in the manufacturers packaging. The helmet is very comfortable and lightweight - and allows a great deal of airflow through the helmet to keep you cool. I chose the red colour to help make me more visible out on the road.
