Great value auger bit
It took an adequately powered drill of course, but I used this bit to put several holes through 10" dock pilings with ease. It doesn't always evacuate the hole that well, so I'd advise being careful to back it out every so often while drilling; that is far easier than it coming to a sudden halt and twisting your wrists / arms. If you keep the hole free of debris though it makes great progress through a variety of woods I've used it on. The starter screw on the front makes it very easy to get a hole started rather than have it walk all over your material. It comes in a nice reusable storage tube; the two plastic ends screw together so you can place it back in the tube when done.

Special use
Works very well for cable ports into just about any wall or floor situation. Bit is sharp and the bit is made very well. I used it for a specialized install and it worked as intended.

Works well with larger electric drill motors
I bored a 3/4" hole up through several layers of 2x4s and flooring to pull a Cat6 cable. Cut very well. I wouldn't recommend using a manual brace as it will take you a lot of effort and time. Likewise, don't try a cordless drill motor as this bit takes a lot of torque. Your drill motor also should have a second handle. Use a slower cutting speed, around 500 rpm. As for the manufacturer's claim that it will cut through nails, I'd be surprised it it did that and also retained its sharpness. It's for wood and it takes a fair amount of power to drive it.That said, I recommend the bit.

Great Bit!
Used this bit to drill through 18" of Black Locust. Did an outstanding job. As long as this bit is paired with an appropriately powered drill, I'd guess there's to much it can't handle. Couldn't be more pleased.

Works well for drilling stumps, but most 1/2" drills won't power it through a green stump. Might be better off with a set of spade bits and an extension. My white Makita 18v drill powered this through an older, but solid stump and did so with ease. I upgraded to the most powerful hammer drill and it only makes it 8" deep in a green hackberry stump.

This thing is a beast
I purchased this to drill holes in tree stumps so I could easily burn them away like a campfire stove and it doesn’t disappoint.

great quality - edited...
This is perfect for those situations where a long bit is needed. As an electrician I use it almost every day. The diameter is too small for anything more than a 14/3 or two 14/2 but that is all it is needed for.Edit. I hit a nail and the bit is useless. Not recommended. The Irwin bits will survive dozens of unfortunate nail hits.
