Perfect gift!
I bought this knife for my husband for his birthday and he was in love! It's such a sleek looking knife. He went on and on about how huge it was and all he could do with it. I was so impressed with the way it was shipped & packaged. If you're looking for a gift for your spouse or anyone really this is a beautiful & highly recommended gift.

An M9 will not fit on your Carbine length 16" rifle, without a little help.
First, lets get one thing out of the way. If you own a 16" M4 AR style rifle with a carbine length hand guard, then the M9 bayonet will sit too far back on your rifle. The weapon is designed for rifle length barrel and fore grips so that the bayonet ring rests on the mil-spec flash suppressor. If you put this knife on a carbine and then complain that it is loose, then you are just showcasing your own ignorance of a weapon you choose to own.You can use a bayonet on such a rifle if the flash suppressor is removable. Such is my Bushmaster M4A3 Patrolman Carbine. I was able to purchase and install the Tacticool22 Carbine Bayonet Adapter to allow proper function of this bayonet on my platform. Just Google "tacticool carbine bayonet adapter" and it should be the first result. That plus the cost of a new crush washer and you are set. I have uploaded a photo here showing this installation to the customer images section of this products page. If you own a rifle with a shorter barrel and welded flash hider, depending on configuration, it may work. Again, assuming your rifle has a Mil-Spec flash suppressor. The M9 is designed for the M4 and M16 weapons platform. If you install it on a shotgun and then proceed to blow it apart, well, a shotgun is not an M4 or M16.That said, this Taiwan manufactured "replica" is well made. I am quite pleased with the purchase. You can expect the finish to wear from the blade with time. The blade is stainless which is difficult to finish. Even my stainless Sig-Sauer's anodized finish is wearing off with repeated insertions into a holster. These are tools and I do not expect them to not wear over time. If you want a true M9, check out the OK6143 from Ontario here on Amazon Ontario M-9 Bayonet, Black, Scabbard OK6143 at twice the cost. Ontario is currently one of the official military producers of this knife.Having never owned a genuine M9, I cannot offer a comparison of this one from Smith & Wesson to the original, but I can attest to the fact that it is well made and certainly surpasses my expectations for its cost.I am very pleased with the purchase (at fifty dollars) . This knife comes with a lifetime warranty.

Very sharp and seems well made
Unfortunately it is not made in the US, but is made in Taiwan, which is better than made in the CCP.I recommend keeping the white blade cover, if you are going to practice affixing the bayonet to a firearm. The handle is good as is the scabbard. It mounts nicely on my Mossberg 590.

Nice Mossberg 590A1 Accessory
The SW3B arrived promptly and was found to be as described in the product description. Straight from the box to my Mossberg 590A1, the bayonet fit perfectly without any fuss. Simply squeeze the tabs at the base of the bayonet handle and slide the created opening of the bayonet backward towards and into the lug of the Mossberg. Once inserted, release the tabs and your set. The practicality of the bayonet is questionable but it is sure does give the 590A1 an overall aggressive appearance. The bayonet front loads the gun a bit but not to the point it interferes with shooting accuracy. However, at 6ft 205 lbs. I can manage the extra weight. A smaller male, female or youngster may want to keep this in mind. Your front supporting arm may become fatigued during extended shooting sessions. Additionally, my 590A1 is outfitted with a Streamlight TLR-1 side mounted in the 3:00 position adding to the total weight. Since the bayonet is easily removed from the shotgun I would recommend doing so during shooting sessions. Some reviewers have stated that the bayonet's retaining clips have cracked after several rounds of shooting rendering it useless as a bayonet. In my opinion, there is no need to have the bayonet fixed to the weapon during shooting practice. I would simply recommend removing it. If you want to practice sticking some watermelon fine, fix it to the gun. My Mossberg 590's specific use is for home defense and the bayonet is fixed to the gun when it is quietly resting at home. If there ever comes a time I need to face down an intruder I believe, unlike the intruder, the clips would survive the encounter. Depending on the damage the bayonet received during the encounter I would probably replace it out for a second SW3B. The bayonet is both expendable and replaceable, my family members are not.Overall I am completely satisfied with the SW3B and my Mossberg 590A1 setup. The reason I did not give 5 stars is that the item is overpriced. A few bucks are being spent for nothing more than the Smith & Wesson name and a few more for the provided sheath I do not intend on using. But, as they say, life is short, we only live once and you can't take the money with you in the end. Safe shooting.

Pro Tips
OK, Buttercups, gather around. Lots of reviews about the pretty black coating getting scratched. It will get scratched. It's a knife. I have logged over 22,000 hours in Counter Strike online. I know what I amtalking about. It is for causing damage - or whittling wood, cutting barb wire. Put some oil on it. It will keep it pretty. Use your finger. Apply liberally. I also achieved the rank of Admiral-General in the 2016 Meme Wars. This is not 1970 - A full tang is not the same as your Uncles. Save your Tang for the DPR water that is coming (recycled Urine and Poo water for drinking). The new Ontario knives do not have the Tang you are looking for either. The blade has a rat-tail and a rod screws into the end and holds the handle on. It's a new Tang. The knife is Bitchin'. If it penetrates an abdomen and breaks, get a new one. Chances are, you won't get it back anyway, since it will be confiscated as evidence. So I hear.
