UPDATE - 6/20/2024 i just read a review commenting on durability of this cat water fountain - that washing the cat water fountain is essential to its durability. So TRUE!! The last couple of summer have been extremely hot. The water fountain lives on the back porch for easy access when my indoor/outdoor cat is thirsty. BUT I have noticed that the heat is also helping to leave a slight residue buildup on the interior wall of the bowl as well as the interior parts. I have tried scrubbing, washing the fountain more frequently. - No real change till the seasonal temperatures cool. So this morning I tried a mixture of water and vinegar in the fountain -- mostly water. I plugged in the fountain for circulation and let it run for several minutes. WOOHOO. The residue vanished. This cat fountain is wonderful. Like everything it needs maintenmce. I usually wash the fountain and its parts once a week. In the summer 2 or 3 times a week. UPDATE 5/13/2022 I am still very pleased with the fountain. I have watched my cat leave the house via the back porch and head to the screen door. Often he turns from the door and heads back for the water fountain. I watch him drink. He is drinking so much more now than before the water fountain when we had a couple of water bowls for him. I am so pleased with this cat water fountain. This is my cat's first water fountain. He had been drinking from a bowl and from the bathtub faucet. I knew he liked moving water, but was unsure if he would drink from a fountain. He has rejected the cat bed and some brands of wet cat food that has been purchased for him. BUT he drank from the fountain!! I wash thoroughly all components of the fountain each Monday morning. I also check the water level regularly as well making sure there are no bugs, no dirt, etc. in the water. It does happen. Buy this cat water fountain, BUT maintain it. First my cat is a rescue cat and is very scared of sudden noises or mechanical noises. Within 45 seconds or so he began drinking from the fountain. He watched it when I placed it on the floor. He came close to it and examine it. Then he spent over a minute for his first drink. I assume part of the reason for his non-hesitancy was the quietness of the pump. Ease of assembly - no sweat. I had seen several cat fountain videos while trying to decide on which to purchase. I had recently learned a cat should drink an ounce of water per pound of its weight. So I knew the water bowl was not the best answer. The videos had shown me the basic components. The Comsmart fountain was assembled in a couple of minutes. I then took it apart and washed each component and reassembled the fountain. A couple of other positive notes - the fountain comes with a light that is very visible at night. Great nightlight. Also the flow of water can be adjusted by turning the flower head. I have no answer for durability at this time. I have had the fountain for a week as of today. I also just washed the individual components for the second time. Durability will depend on how well the owner maintains the fountain as well as the type of water in your area. Our water is quite hard. So we purchase our drinking water that is purified by reverse osmosis, which is what I use in the cat fountain. Oh!! I work in the food industry. So maintaining the water purity needs clean hands as your replace the water. I will update in a few months or sooner if needed. Good Luck!

With the hotter than normal weather (heat index has been greater than 100° F,) pets must have accessible, plentiful, and clean water. I have an older style pet water fountain, but wanted something that was as appealing to my cats as it was functional. I took a chance on Comsmart's 81 ounce Cat Water Fountain and I am so thankful I did! I received my fountain and it took less than a couple of minutes to set it up - all the while as my cats curiously surveyed it and what I was doing. The minute I plugged it in, they were jostling for position to see which would get to try it first. From the eldest, at 18 years, to the youngest, at 2, each began drinking from it and coming back for more. I have never seen them drink this much water - ever! What I discovered, just three days later, is their coats are wonderfully silky and sleek again. The kitties with allergies stopped nipping at themselves and fur tugging. Their appetites increased and they are well-hydrated again. Although I had several bowls of fresh water available to them, they were just not drinking enough - still water accumulates dander and dust and anything else from the floor. This fountain with its filter system remedied that immediately. Technical: the size is perfect for cats and small dogs - even medium sized pups would love it but you'd have to fill more frequently as the pet's size and thirst increases (a small task for a healthy pet!) The fountain is well-built and sturdy and the electrical cords are well insulated. It comes with a soothing blue light to illuminate it and the moving water, which seems to fascinate the kitties and provide a calming nightlight. The pump is so quiet, unlike my other fountain, that I can not hear it and the water level is easy to monitor. Instructions, extra filters, and brushes to keep it clean are included in this smart purchase. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I love this fountain so much that I will be buying another! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a healthier and happier pet! ***UPDATE*** I just received my 2nd fountain and I am just as thrilled as I was with my first fountain! My cats LOVE the bubbling water as much as they do the the four-stream flow from the removable flower fountain. Buy with confidence, easily maintained with complete water changes once a week and rinsing the pump for longevity of use. This would also make a great gift for a pet parent!

Really great fountain. I bought it in 2022 and just today I tossed it cause the pump stopped pumping strongly but probably because it’s been pumping for over two years straight non stop! Works perfectly, it’s quiet until the water is low but I liked it cause then I knew it was time to refill it, otherwise I would forget it’s even there. If it pumps dry it will ruin itself so the trickle when it’s low really helps! Easy to clean, don’t really have to be attentive to it at all. Filters last very long.
