Not chalkboard! Black Laminate but worked well enough.
So these are NOT chalkboards instead they are actually a black laminate that's been cut to shape. Smart idea, but falsely advertised. They are double sided and did work well for what I needed them for! I wrote with chalk and knew that I had to do it right the first time! We sealed these with spray fixative. However, you cannot erase with these, it's difficult to make any error with chalk go away fully. Write quickly and neatly, plan your spacing ahead of time and you'll be fine.

Not the best quality but worked fine for one photo
Make sure you read the instructions because only regular chalk can be used on these chalkboards! I wasn't surprised that the quality wasn't great since they were so cheap and the other reviews said as much. But these little chalkboards are remarkable thin. If you bent them with a medium amount of force, they would snap in half. I only used them for a save the date photo, and they worked fine for that purpose. But we had to use our own string because the jute string enclosed was very short. I think these would be good for hanging on the wall for decoration, but not much else. I dont recommend these for arts and crafts with children because they are so delicate. Also, the material seems like black painted wood, with grains and bumps; not really a traditional chalkboard that is smooth and uniform.

These are cute, but not of the quality I expected. They are very thin, rough craft board and can only be used with chalk (not chalk markers) if you want to be able to reuse them. I wanted to use them on our studio doors to indicate when a room is occupied and while they work for that function, I'd hoped to be able to avoid having to have chalk and erasers and all the dust that those create. Still, very cute and reasonably priced.

These got the job done for what I needed - a few signs at a party for drinks and food and what not. However I was disappointed to find that they aren't particularly cleanable. Once written on they retain the chalk, and it took a lot of scrubbing to fix an error and it was quite blotchy. The wood grain is also visible- these are less chalkboard signs but rather wood with chalkboard paint. Be wary of you want to reuse

Thin piece of wood with black paint on it. From what I can tell it's not even chalk board paint.

Poor Qaulity
Writing on the board was good, but when it came to erasing what was written on the board, I could not write on the board again. Erasing just smudge the writing. I would never order these boards again. I got one use out of all 4 of them and threw them in the trash. Very Disaappointed!
