A Must Have
This book was recommended to me by someone who is trained in Personality Types. I took the questionnaire with this person so this book is the 'companion' to the work I've been doing. But, it is not necessary to use the book along with a professional!!Type Talk is written very well, easy to understand, with a lot of examples. It's not written in a technical fashion, so any lay person can understand what is discussed. As far as the information: packed full. This is a great book. I'm thinking of picking up a few copies for some people close to me. (I'd give them my copy when I'm done but I'm going to hang on to for future reference!) The authors don't expect the book to be the final, end-all problem solver. Rather, it's a tool to understand the way people tend to act, think and talk. It's great for figuring out relationships at home, work or with friends and why we all react the way we do. I highly recommend it.

An older but very useful book - hard to find yet Amazon had it!
My husband had loaned his book to a family friend from Japan. In the inside of the cover, he had written "Stolen from (his name)". We in the US understand that to mean it is to be returned. She didn't know that and thought it was being given to her! So we had to get another for him. This describes the personality "type" of a person, helping to know how to communicate with others, understanding why they communicate the way they do, as well I why you communicate the way you do.It makes communication between us operate more smoothly; more successfully.A great book with information that is timeless.

Typing method flawed
MorphologicalYou can't really tell what personality type a person is just by using the guide in this book, you need Socionic's morphological method in order to get trough that first step. It's a great book once you know what personality types everybody is.There are other serious problems with the typelogic tests. The one you take on typelogic dot com determines your internal self. Myself for example-internally I am ESTJ but in reality I am INFJ (ESTJ is my dual-the person who is the best match for my personality type). Second, as you can see from my example of testing ESTJ my internal dual-seeking self is manifesting outwardly flawing the results of the test thereby putting you in a pool of people you wouldn't get along with. For correct results-type yourself using How to Find Yourself and Your Best Match Socionics by Rod Novichkov then take the MBTI test and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

A Practical Book for Pacifists and Everybody Else
For those familiar with Keirsey and his books on temperaments, Type Talk makes an excellent companion. Compared to Keirsey's rather clinical explanations, Kroeger and Thuesen's book explains the temperaments in layman's terms and includes situational examples for easier identification of each type. For those looking for an introduction to the Temperament Sorter, this insightful book is an engaging beginner's guide to all the temperaments and how each can be easily identified in daily living. This book doesn't include a temperament test, but any person can accurately identify his/her personality type just by reading the clear examples of each trait. A highly useful book for the person on the journey to self-discovery, or anyone curious to know the ins and outs of human personality.

Invaluable
I've used the stuff in this book (and given away three different copies) extensively. Easy to digest. Easy to apply. Meyers-Briggs theorists can be pretty pedantic...but these authors are accessible and insightful. This stuff is applicable to your kids, your spouse, your neighbors, and even your dog. I've recommended it to dozens and dozens of people over the years. I taught type-watching to my own kids using this book. This can help you understand and get along with others. Buy it. Buy it now.

Purchased for study and review
This book takes a more in depth look at the 4 personality types by breaking them down into 4 sub groups. This then creates a wider and more accurate 16 types. By understanding these 16 make ups one can apply them to their relationships for a better understanding of those people in their lives....and yes a better understanding of themselves. This works so well in a business environment that many Team Building workshops use materials based upon this study.
