The helmet adjusts both in circumference and vertically. The circumference adjustment is the round knob at the back of the helmet. The vertical adjustment can be seen by looking at the interior rear of the helmet (see image). You adjust it vertically by pushing or pulling on the plastic parts that hang in the rear of the helmet (see image). Pulling the vertical adjustment down from the helmet will cause the helmet to sit lower on your head.We've had a very hard time getting a helmet to fit my spouse's tiny head (normally she wears kid's hats). This one can be adjusted to fit snugly. The size small truly can be adjusted to be a SMALL helmet. The shape is somewhat round - like a round oval shape.The helmet is very comfortable, well padded and not heavy. The small size we bought weighs 280 grams. This is really light considering the helmet is relatively inexpensive AND has the MIPS safety system (which generally adds some weight).We are happy with this helmet, especially since Giro's helmets generally score well in the Virginia Tech ratings (most are 5 out of 5). This specific helmet was not tested, however.

Helmet that looks good, fits great and is safe.

This is my second helmet like this one. Unfortunately I broke the plastic tightening mechanism inside the helmet so I was very happy to be able to find another one. It is so comfortable and fits my smaller head.

Super light and snazzy looking! I love that I can easily adjust the fit with the spin of the dial. Depending on how I wear my hair or if I put a liner or hat under my helmet. Great buy!!

I thought the sizing ran small when I first received it but it turns out I am just lame. It’s adjustable and there’s a dial in the back. Fits perfect. Light weight. Well made.

This is a great helmet. I'm a petite woman with a small head, and this was the only helmet that adjusted tightly enough to fit securely on my head. (I tried Lazer and Smith helmets, but when I pushed on my forehead [as would happen at impact], they both slid back on my head. And the Bell helmets I tried made me look like a mushroom). BUT...BEWARE OF THE MANUFACTURING DATE! The white helmets are being sold as 2020 helmets, but the sticker inside shows a manufacturing date of 03/19. I thought the first time might have been a fluke, so I tried another. Same date. I tried two more from different suppliers, and they also had a date of 03/19 (it's now 07/20, so the helmets have expended 45% of their three-year life spans.). These should not be sold at full price as 2020 helmets, especially when other color helmets are identified as 2019 helmets and discounted accordingly. I took up the issue with Amazon and they agreed to give me a $50 credit, which equates to 42% of the full price. BTW, I made sure to cross of the 2020 and hand write "2019" on the three I ended up returning so the next buyers aren't deceived.
