Good gain, silly desktop stand, but only 192KHz
It's a cheap Chinese microphone with more gain than the really cheap ones They sound pretty good. The people reporting there is low gain are probably trying to use it like a boundary mic. I would say it's 30db gain, most of the cheap mics are 20db. I don't think they should have included the ridiculous desktop tripod, but it's not worth docking a star, it's designed for a mic scissor stand. Sadly it does not do 48KHz, it will only do 192KHz so it loses 2 stars, though I don't know if that matters so I will revisit this. Just because it says it's 192KHz doesn't mean it's interrupting at 192KHz.

Sounds deep and rich. There's audible hiss, but that's what your sound limiter/compressor is for. Those having issues with voice have to move closer to it and turn the recording sound up, I do not experience this issues on MacOS 10.12.

Great for home use!
I have three children who are all musicicans, and I thought this would be an awesome addition to our home music studio. All three are vocalists, and the two older ones are fairly used to singing with a microphone. The set up and use of this microphone is fairly easy (the kids, two college students and a freshman in high school, used it exclusively), and it looks great as well: very professional. The sound is pretty decent. I'm not an expert on this kind of equipment, and while this is ceertainly not the most expensive of microhpones on the market, I think it is would be good for limited applications especially for the anyone looking to record or transmit podcasts from home, but maybe not to record vocals for audiitions. The sound quality for singing is not necessarily adequate for a strong and loud soprano or tenor voice. My daughter set it up it on her Mac with Garage Band, and the kids have really enjoyed using it, however.

Not really an upgrade to a built in iMac microphone.
Easy to set up and made of high quality components, the GXL2600 USB is a nice all around microphone for basic computer recording needs. It's also heavy enough to stay put on your desk and has a "shock mount" that does a good job of isolating the microphone from vibrations. The stand, however, is very low-set and can be difficult to adjust. Once in place, it's stable and solid. It also worked like a charm with Mac OS 10.10 (including the dictation function), GarageBand, and Logic Pro. This is not, however, a "go to" microphone for higher quality audio recordings, including music vocals. In fact, I noticed virtually no sonic improvement over the built-in Microphone from my 2014 iMac. (At times it seemed to pick up more ambient room noise; at other times, less.) If you need a microphone for high quality general audio recording and singing, I would spend just a little more and get a non-USB microphone like the Audio Technica AT2035 Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Studio Condenser Microphone Bundle with... , which comes with a nice bundle from Amazon. It does not, however, have a USB interface, and uses an XLR cable. But, if you're serious about sound, you ought to invest in an XLR interface (which will allow all manner of audio input into your computer, with some having midi in and out as well). The Focusrite 2i2 is a great place to start. Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2 In/2 Out USB Recording Audio Interface In sum, if you want a little more positioning flexibility than the built-in microphone on your Mac, and require a USB interface, the GXL2600USB is a decent choice. If you want better sound quality, look elsewhere.

Not for high-quality recording
low-quality. My built in iPhone mic produces better sound quality with less fuzz.

Mic is extremely low. I have turned the Mic ...
Mic is extremely low. I have turned the Mic volume to the max in windows. This item is a usb microphone and i am not expecting to have to buy a phantom power source, however i am also expecting to be able to be heard. Currently, my 12$ mic has outperformed this unit unless the sound issue can be addressed, at which point this review will be altered

Decent Audio but with an awkward mount
I have used several microphones over the years and the CAD GXL2600USB microphone. My favorite is the Yeti Blue... in fact, after a few uses I decided the CAD GXL2600USB just didn't compare to the Yeti so the CAD had pretty much stayed on the shelf. One caveat I am using this microphone mainly for voiceover work and not music. Notes - Not much in the way of controls... not way to change the gain or directionality - Has a nice support, but the little tripod is awkward and wants to tip over - The sound volume seems low - it could be an issue with my sound capture card, but I have a difficult time getting ample sound volume without having to crank the audio gain on my software. Final Verdict - Not bad... but my preference is the Yeti by Blue 2 1/2 Stars
