OE mirror, OE quality
My vehicle is a 02 Tahoe that I have owned since new and the factory mirror temp/compass display would not work at times without a "slight" tap on the side of the mirror. If the factory mirror was available it is expensive so I tried a used one I ordered from Ebay, (the local pick and pull is over 40 miles away, Ebay was easier). Everything seemed okay when I installed it during the winter but when summer came the compass / temp display was almost impossible to read it was so washed out. Since it was past the return time and I knew that this mirror is from the oe supplier, I decided to fix this once and for all. Installed the mirror, plugged in the 7-way connector and everything powered up correctly. Calibrated the compass and set the location and I was done.If you need a wiring diagram, search out the reviews, some have pictures of the terminal locations and wiring colors. If you need more, search out a vehicle like my Tahoe for diagnosis and install.

OEM quality with a universal fitting kit
Nice fit and finish. Same as OEM supplied part for many vehicles. Install is UNIVERSAL, so it fits as well as you make it fit. The wires are a plasticy, but tough. It comes with everything you need for a basic install. No instructions for placement of the temp probe pins in the connector, but it's pretty easy to figure out (pins go in the far opposite side of the connector either way). The compass works perfect after selecting a zone, and driving in a slow circle. The temperature seems accurate, but placement anywhere near the engine bay will throw the reading off. I had to move the probe inside the front fender for better accuracy, but now it reads true. Overall, it is a good kit for the price. Just a warning: The average DIYer may have trouble with a clean installation. This kit requires a lot of trim removal to get wiring above the headliner, and the temp probe will probably need to go through the firewall. Definitely recommended if you have a moderate skill level.

Perfect for 2nd Gen Nissan Frontier SE
The factory mirror in my 2006 Nissan Frontier was getting old - silver mirror layer around edges was receding and I could never keep the mirror aligned "just right." This Gentex installed easily, slid right on the the button, and I lightly tightened the T-20 screw. I hooked the ground up to one of the headliner screws found above the sunglass holder/map light box. I ran the temp probe wire down the driver-side a-pillar, then out the firewall grommet behind the brake booster. I clipped the temp probe onto/behind/inside the front license plate holder - the reading is spot on. I ran the accessory power wire down the passenger a-pillar to the one of the accessory fuses. My only complaint (which I won't take any stars away for) is it did not come with instructions. I was able to find them online - that is the only way I could figure out where the two temp probe pins go (on the opposite side of the harness from the ground and accessory pins. They aren't polar, so it doesn't matter which one you stick in which hole, as long as they go in the openings farthest from the power and ground pins.) I also ordered the Gentex 50-9010227001M wire cover so there wouldn't be ugly wires dangling from my headliner. The mirror is MUCH better than the factory tiny mirror. The compass was in CAL mode until I drove in a full circle at which point it was dead on. I am very happy I ordered this mirror.

Quality upgrade for my TJ
It didn't come with instructions which sucked but it was easy to figure out regardless. The bracket attached to the mirror may take some adjusting and maneuvering because of the extremely tight fit. The trickiest part was finding existing holes to route the temp gauge/wires. I placed it inside the cowl out of direct sunlight and far enough away from the engine but still able to read the temp accurately. In the TJ there was an existing drain plug in the firewall to the right of the engine where I fed the wire. The cowl was hard to remove to get underneath and took some muscle help from my big brother. The ground point for the compass was found down and to the right of the interior fuse box. The quality of the mirror is great and the display is nice and bright. The price was a bit steep for brand new but worth it. If you want to save some cash, definitely check for used ones on Ebay or at a junk yard.

Can’t install in my Subaru
This mirror can’t be installed in my Subaru as is. In the product description, there is no statement that the mount (“button”) has to be a specific type, so now I need to figure out if I can get an adapter for this mirror or return the mirror. Mind you I had to remove my old mirror (no trivial task) to find out. Went back and reinstalled my old mirror. [frustration]
