Perfect for salt water tanks
Came perfect salinity level in very first time. very surprised. then I played little with this meter to make sureit is correct salt and water ratio for my marine aquarium, I added little more salt in the same water and then checked again and meter showing high level of salinity in the water, then I did add back some fresh water and checked the salinity. I got a perfect reading which is ideal for a salt water tank.It worked for me and very good price.

Would be nice if numbers were larger
The media could not be loaded. It works but for brackish water it is difficult to read because it starts so low on the scale - my figure 8 puffer needs around 0.4 and it’s so hard to gauge because it’s made for a higher salinity

Cheap but useful
Works well for a cheap hydrometer but watch out for air bubbles that will give incorrect readings.

Do not Trust
Do Not Trust. Thank God I Bought a Refractometer. I had one of these when I first started my tank with just fish. As I gained experience and knowledge I looked into starting a reef tank and adding live corals and started looking into parameters more. I read a lot of horror stories about these kind of plastic Refractometers causing people to lose all of their fish etc. but I never had problems luckily I kept my salinity at what I thought was 1.021 the whole time with just fish was fine. I thought man I got lucky I found a good plastic Refractometer it’s always on point when I mix salt and I get the same reading so I’m going to buy a back up one. So the second one came and it was absolutely bizarre out of the box it didn’t even read the needle would just go straight to the top like my salinity was so high it was off the charts. So I thought wow what a piece of junk just like everyone else says. I started scratching my head wondering which one is right? Obviously I knew I was mixing my salt to the recommended dosage so the second warm tone plastic Refractometer was just junk. But I went ahead and spent the money to get a good recommended Refractometer by my Local Fish store that they use a Sybon Refractometer I bought it here on Amazon and when I got it in there was a way to check the calibration of it and it was spot on. So I checked my fish tanks to find out my Quarantine Tanks and my Display tank were at 1.026 not 1.021 like I thought. So it was high but not high enough to kill my fish, but if I had raised my salinity to 1.026 so I could start a reef tank and trusted this salinity checker I would have killed all my fish because the salinity would have then been 1.031. So please save your fish and learn from my experience don’t buy this junk🙏🏻

Worth buying for live food!
This is pretty accurate for the price! If you REALLY need to be critical with measurements, this will get you right in the ballpark at the very least if not just about accurate!

Scale too large to use with Goldfish pond.
The scale is too large to be of use with a fresh water pond in which salt is added as an aid to gold fish. Since the ideal amount is less than one half of the distance between the first and second increment. However I can imagine this would be good for saltwater tanks.
