Pink Shoelaces & Rainbows ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED

While this CD contains all but one of Dodie's Billboard Top 100 Hits. There are 20 fillers in this 24-tune compilation. Decent voice but most songs are pretty lame. Bought it because "Pink Shoe Laces" was a significant charting tune in 1959. So I had higher hopes than it delivered. MY BIGGEST PROBLEM is with Amazon shipping. Out of 133 multiple CD orders over the last 3 months, I estimate 50-60% have had at least one case broken and many cases have been shattered. I have to assume it's do to the cheap shipping envelopes they use. Yet, in some cases the shipping envelope shows no signs of damage. Makes me wonder exactly where some of the damage originates. While they cut shipping costs for themselves I've replaced most of the busted cases at my expense. Not cost effective for the consumer. Wish they would take better care in providing undamaged product to the customer. After all we pay for and expect to receive decent product.

Love this CD. A real blast from the past.

I really liked the album. Dodie Stevens has a beautiful voice and sounds great on all the songs that make up the album. I was really impressed by Dodie's voice which sounds so mature for her age. Highly recommended.

Rainbows are all Judy garland covers. I like them even better than Judy's version.Not on Amazon music when I checked. Not even pink shoelaces.

Another solid cd of an under appreciated artist from the late 50's and early '60's. Very enjoyable!

ドディー・スティーヴンスは1946年2月17日、イリノイ州シカゴ生まれ。オールディーズの世界には「アンサー・ソング」というジャンル？が存在しています。「アンサー・ソング」とは大ヒットした曲があると、それに対して答える形の歌のこと。所謂、便乗商法なわけですが、私が彼女を知ったのは、エルヴィスの「ARE YOULONESOME TONIGHT?」（邦題は「今夜は一人かい？」）に対するアンサー・ソング、「YES, I'M LONESOME TONIGHT」でした。その後、「PINK SHOELACES」という大ヒット（1959年全米3位まで上昇）も聴き、私の中で少し気になる歌手でした。そんな流れがあり、今回本CDを見つけて購入することに。1曲目〜12曲目までは、1960年に発売した「OVER THE RAINBOW」というアルバムから。有名スタンダード集ですが、意外な歌の上手さに驚かせられました。とても12〜3歳のローティーンが歌っているとは思えませんでした...当時のアメリカ音楽業界、まさに恐るべしといったところでしょうか。13曲目〜24曲目は1961年に発売されたアルバム、「PINK SHOELACES」の録音。「PINK SHOELACES」と「YES, I'M LONESOME TONIGHT」がやはりいいですね。他に「THE FIVE PENNIES」という小ヒットを記録した曲も収録されています。
