Exactly what I needed for Kringle!
My family fell in love with Trader's Joe's Wisconsin Kringle just before the holidays. At the price (and with three 6' boys/men eating them), I decided I should learn to bake them instead of buying one every other day. Who am I kidding? They would eat a whole Kringle everyday if I kept them in supply! After buying 4 small packages of almond paste for the filling (8 ounces each @ $5.44/each) at Walmart, I decided it was time to buy in bulk. Walmart's price works out to $10.88/pound. Buying it in this can, I paid $6.78 a pound, which is about 40% cheaper. It took me about 10 minutes with a kitchen scale and snack size riplock bags to portion out my own 8 ounce quantities. Turns out there were 15 bags, or 7.5 pounds (bonus!). After using one for the immediate Kringle needs, the rest fit in a single gallon-size ziplock bag.The paste is good for up to 3 months in the fridge, or a year in the freezer. If we don't use it all in three months, I'll toss the rest in the freezer. Given how long it takes to make a Kringle from scratch, I'm hoping everyone gets bored of them for a while!

Worth every penny.
I do a lot of baking here at home.Hubby won't eat anything that I don't cook.I'd been buying solo, 8 Oz packages and it was just too expensive.Hubby came to me a few months ago and said he'd like to buy something for me, anything I would like. I asked him to buy me this #10 can of almond paste! He looked at me strangely and said "well, at least you didn't ask for dirt" (which I've been known to ask for).It took him fewer than 24 hours to appreciate why I'd asked for almond paste! With those expensive little 8 oz packages, I'm limited to what I can make. Usually something like almond macaroons, which is a good way to make a little go a long way.Now I can make him cakes, candies, cookies and pastries and not worry about using it all up in one recipe!

Love this almond paste
Tastes great and easy to use. Can was dented when received, but that shouldn't affect anything.

On time and as advertised
Haven't opened the can yet, have used similar products in the past. Bought it now to beat the rush for Christmas. I will be using it to make Banket and other backed goods.

My Pastry Chef Son & I have been using it for years!
This Almond Paste is delicious and easy to work with. My son uses this brand throughout the year. I've been using it for over 7 years. I use it in my Italian Butter Cookie recipe, Pignoli Cookies, Rainbow Cookies and much more. The consistency is perfect and in my opinion it's the best tasting one on the market not to mention very economical. It beats paying $14 for an 8 oz. package in the specialty stores in NY!

Taste and texture is awful
It's not as sweet as it should be. The texture is off and it's greasy.I have been making almond bars for a while. I decided to try to save money on making a large amount for different families. They didn't turn out good at all..The bars hardly have any sweetness or almond flavor to them. They wouldn't cook through properly so when I cut them I had to put the middle part back into the oven. Now I have had to do that before when I didn't cook them long enough so no big deal. The difference this time was that because the edges were removed from the pan, the rest of them did not keep their form.. complete waste of money
