Dock Edge + Mooring Whip 12-Feet with Lines and Hardware, 5000-Pound

These are solid, well made, and work well. I bought the smallest size for a 13' RHIB to hold it off and keep it from rubbing against the dock. I made a few changes in the installation:1. I through bolted the mounts rather than using the supplied lag bolts "just because"2. I added pulleys from West Marine to the end of the whips; the rope was fraying from going around the pivot point which is about an 1/8th of an inch diameter. This was a trival upgrade that I strongly recommend.3. I am replacing the stainless bolts that hold the whips to the cast aluminum frame. They have an elegant plastic handle but it doesn't hold up. A regular machine bolt will allow me to put a hex wrench on it. Be sure to grease this fastener with a good waterproof grease.I use 4 additional dock lines to hold the boat in place: 2 criss crossed spring lines fore-aft so the boat can't move fore-aft. A bow line and a stern line each so the vessel can't rotate under the whips and hit the dock.So why, after so many mods, did I still give it 5 stars? Because the fiberglass rods and the mounts are extremely well made, and although my situation is rather extreme, this system really does the job.My location is often rough (2 foot waves); despite taking a pounding the system works extremely well, I've been using it an entire season.

Lake is full of wake boats. Now my boat doesn't hit the dock when they pass. Pretty easy to install. Took about 20 minutes. Definitely recommended.

The Moorings whips shipped very quickly & all the parts were included and nothing was damaged. I stalled very easily. Easy to install an they performed perfectly.

I read reviews and someone else said the same thing. Not going through the hassle of sending back. Just wont by from dock edge anymore.

I have seen several people mention theirs snapped off at the base, and mine have done the same. About 4" snapped off the base from storm but these are still worth the money. Boat hasn't hit the dock once.

Just installed these today to hold our 20 foot VR5 Bayliner..we are on a small lake that gets some wind and boat traffic and I have a stand-alone dock. If they hold up and do as well ongoing as I am seeing today..I am totally impressed with their performance. Boat is holding nice, I probably have to tweak it a bit but the spring lines are key...so far happy with the purchase and hope to be for a long time!!Follow up 2021: Still impressed--the picture is after our boat took a direct hit from an EF1 tornado--winds up to 95 MPH. The whips stayed intact and kept the boat upright and off of the sunken portion of the dock..No visible damage to boat. The dock whips certainly do their job and then some.

These dock whips work great and kept my 23' pontoon boat off the dock through tides 2-5' and through heavy weather for the last two seasons. Unfortunately one of the whips started to wear, but I contacted Dock Edge and they replaced the part. I am very happy with the outcome and would highly recommend.

I am on a river with a lot of marine traffic causing a lot of waves. This mooring arrangement keeps my boat safe from hitting or rubbing on my dock. It was easy to install and simllifies my arrival to the dock. It also gives me peace of mind

Just as described. I have twosets of these. One set is on our 22ft bowrider and I used this set to keep my 18 ft fishing boat from scrubbing against the dock when boats go by (closer than they need to…). Easy to install. Works perfect. Let’s me relax.

I'd say these are good, likely not great, but lets see. I think the end of the rods (plastic wheel) is a little average and will likely need replacing with something more heavy duty. Additionally the screw that holds the whips into the mount is not going to last long in the sun, i'll likely replace that with a standard hex bolt. Overall, easy to setup and they seem well made, I would have appreciate a little more attention to these details as if/when they fail the entire system could essentially become worthless. I've got a plan to deal with this, but i think if they want 5 stars, that should be part of the package.

These work perfectly as described. The only thing to watch out for is the rear whip will interfear with a tall boat or one with a tower and / or bimini. I also purchased the spring loaded base for the one whip and replaced the fixed angle one on the end of the dock. This allows the whip to stand straight up and down out of the path of the boat as it pulls in and out of the slip now. I use these on a 3800# boat and they work flawlessly.

They hold the pontoon boat away from the dock. Easy to install.
