I bought one of these years ago to quickly sharpen knives- but lost it in a move. This was before your see a lot of the carbide knife sharpeners you see today. It, like other carbide sharpeners will do 5th job, but it doesn’t do a good looking edge, it’s sharp though. I then started using this in exact blades as I am a profession electronic technician. It does a great job on those. Started using it on utility knife blades, and got good results as well. The original had an optional desk pad that this slips into. That really worked well too. I just clamp it with a quick clamp and your hand stays out of the way.

By using this tool you will not get a super fine microscopic honed edge. What you do get is a “dull as can be blade” turned into an extremely sharp cut through anything blade in just a matter of minutes. No plastic parts and works on knives from tiny to huge. This is a simple solution that works!!!

I recently ordered two of these based on the positive reviews, and I was not disappointed. I have had the same experience as others; 3-5 swipes and your knife is really, really sharp. Are there other, more versatile sharpeners out there? Absolutely. Can you get a better edge with a more expensive sharpener? Sure. But you'll be hard pressed to find something as handy and usable as this for the field. I would rate the edge at about 8 out of 10 - more than serviceable - and it weighs in at a mere 5 ounces; nice and light for backpacking or go-bag. Rugged as hell; the tungsten carbide bits seem like they will last for years. Hole through the handle for lanyard/para-cord is a nice touch. I'll be ordering a few more in the coming weeks.

Sharpener is working great. Each day I come home from work, I use it on my pocket knife. 5 or 6 passes through it and it's great again. Can fit in your pocket or to a key chain.

Probably a 4.5 star because I have several of these after I found our how well these work. I really like how fast this sharpens knives even if it's not a great finish. It's probably the best thing to have if you are out camping. I highly recommend this for quick and efficient sharpening of knives, but I haven't tried it on axes or other thicker blades.

This knife sharpener goes above and beyond I can't say enough food about it it is simply amazing but a fair warning be careful because your knives will be Sharp but I'm loving it I'm going to order another one or two

Simple, easy to use and it works. You can actually see the metal shaving collect as you sharpen. The cutters are at a set angle so if your blade is cut differently it takes a few passes to get it trimmed to the sharpener angle. Not a big deal. Works the best by pulling a little swiftly and with even pressure. You DO NOT need to bear down hard and don't let the blade chatter. As you are pulling the knife thru you can feel it getting smoother with each pass. The cutters are reversible as well. Hope this helps.

If you need a quality knife sharpener this is the one. Use sparingly as it is a little brutal in the amount of metal it removes. Do not use on a Scandinavian Grind. ( but great for any knife that has a flat grind ? ). Use a strop to take off the rough remains and you end up with an incredibly sharp knife. Brian. UK
