This book Makes Sense.
I bought this book in lieu of purchasing a Nikon D600. I knew there would be a learning curve for the camera, and I wanted to get a head start on that curve by getting familiar with the book BEFORE I purchased the camera.Once the camera arrived I set to work taking photos and learning. I found this book to be very helpful. The text just didn't tell how to do things, but made a point to explain why things do what they do. I have been an avid photographer for years (45 years), and my ego doesn't stand in my way of me buying any book for "Dummies" because I know these books make learning understandable. I could have toughed it out and not "asked for directions". But, why do that? The book is easy to use; the text is well written and clear, and I'm glad I bought this book!Incidentally, I was reading some general information in line about reprogramming some buttons and functions. I must have read many articles and watched many YouTube videos on how to perform this "simple" task by photographers claiming to be professionals. Sometimes people may be really good at what they do but, they don't seem to be able to explain clearly how they do it. After reading and listening to this gobblledygook, I went strait to the D600 For Dummies Book, and discovered a whole section on this topic, and the explanations were very clear and precise. Great book!

No matter your experience level, it breaks it down in full color.
Loaded with glossy full-color photos on its pages and filled with more information that you could dream, this book breaks down the D600 for dummies or not. Those who are experienced in photography will still find things they didn't know it could do, and those new to photography will feel like they just had a college course with a great instructor to take them along the way. It takes you through all parts of the camera but also all parts of photography in an easily read book that allows you to skip through what you know and easily understand, through photos, what you need to learn. In all honesty, you need no experience to tackle mastering the camera completely as long as you have this and it's a thick bookComment

Love This Book - Very Clear, Easy To Understand And Follow
I have had a D200 for 8 years and decided to upgrade to the D600. Although there are many similaries between the two cameras, the D600 is very different and contains many additional features and functions. I got this book to go thru all of these new capabilities and have been thrilled at how easy it is to follow and learn. I would highly recommend this to any of my fellow "Dummies".

Great choice!
My first "for Dummies" purchase and well-worth my time. Don't rely solely on that manufacturer's User Manual, as they generally lack the practical application usage of your camera. I specifically liked the format and simplified explanations.

Nikon D600 for Dummies
This dummy has benefited greatly from this book. Great for getting started and also as a quick reference guide. I bought the paper copy and then downloaded the Kindles version for traveling. Highly recommended for those of us switching to Nikon from other manufacturers.

So much better that a 'tech' manual
As with my D3100 Nikon for Dummies book, another Julie Adair success. So much better that a 'tech' manual.

EASY TO UNDERSTAND
I bought this book to help me through the learning curve on my Nikon D600. Everything is laid out neatly, chapter by chapter and is full of interesting, easily digestible paragraphs with hints and tips along the way. Highly recommended, as all the "For Dummies" books are.

Very useful, well written, easy to use book
This book is, like all those I’e read by the author (for the Nikon D90, D5000, D5200, D7500 and now D600), well written and well illustrated. I tend to use them as reference books, I.e. if I have a problem or need to know something, I consult the book’s index and go straight to the appropriate section. I nearly always find the answer that I need ‘first time’

one star short.
The only reason I have given this book 4 stars is a bit complex........I'm trying to determine exactly myself who it is aimed at. The majority of those who buy a D600 will prob be either moving up from a Nikon DX to FX....in which case they will already know most of the content, and the geography of the buttons while not identical...won't be too far away, or active enthusiasts and pro's looking for a back up body, in which case it will be a bit superfluous. Maybe those Heaven forbid moving from Canon to Nikon? Anyway the book does what it says, and takes you thru all buttons, modes etc as you would expect, and does it very well, but there was just something missing for me at intermediate level. Compared with the "Nikon D5100 for dummies" which I bought as a first venture into DSLR books (and DSLR's), the layout seemed a little more disjointed, and involved a lot more cross referencing between chapters, index and content before I could find exactly what i wanted, maybe it's just me!!

Really is for dummies
Of all the projected guides for the D600 this was one of the few actually in print so bought it against my better judgement so I could get up and running on my D600 ASAP. Probably should have waited for something a bit more advanced/less simplistic!

It's a good starting point for someone new to the camera
I bought this for my husband as he recently purchased a D600. Feedback from him is that it's 'just ok'. After reading through it myself I find it informative and interesting. It's a good starting point for someone new to the camera.
