Really helpful and demonstrative in fleshing out the character design process! - I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It is, first and foremost, helpful, clear, concise and instructive in the processes of character design. This book demystifies the process quite nicely and helped me to start carving out a rough process for myself that I will now practice so I can become proficient at creating characters. Additionally, this process is applicable for any type of design you might attempt. I highly recommend this book. I like it so much, I ordered Kevin Crossley's other book: 101 Top Tips from Fantasy Painters. Review: 10/10 Would recommend to anyone interested in character design. - This is by far the most useful book that I have ever found for character design and I've bought quite a few. When reading it I could not put it down and found the points and exercises as well as the composition of the book to be one of the best I've ever read. If you're looking for some assistance in learning how to create characters and how to continually keep them fresh in your mind, this is the book for you.

It's good but not What I expected
It was ok, mamy good tips, but I believe the same info you could get in free online tutorials if you search long enough. I thought it would be mor diverse and more human-orientated. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it.

There's not a lot of good books on the subject
I studied animation and consider myself an intermediate character designer. There's not a lot of good books on the subject, and this one is the best I've found yet. Although I myself could push the examples a little bit further, there's a lot of good information inside. I guess a beginner could learn most of the trades here, and an intermediate can learn/remember a lot of good tips also.

For anyone who wants to learn about character design from the drawing characters to using photoshop to draw and paint. Kevin Crossley has done a great job of giving real life work examples to creating some of his own. The artwork is very incredible and his humor is quite entertaining.

Looking forward to the "next edition"
This seems to be the best character design book out there. Good examples, but not a great deal of variety. Very Sci-fi, not too cartoony. Great Photoshop technique instruction. Good design strategies. An example of a complete character design including thumbnails, construction and action model sheets, with turnarounds and character lineup would be welcome.

The best $10 kindle investment I have made! Thanks Kevin. I was unsure of my path in fantasy art but thanks to this book I’m heading towards character design with a view of medieval influences

Full of great tips and tricks for character design, if you're looking for an effective workflow and design process this book will definitely help a lot. Edit: The price seems to have gone up ALOT since I bought it. It's good, but it's not £400 good.
