Great for early chapter book readers
I was looking for something to read to my 7 year old daughter and 3 year old son. I wanted something gender neutral (I wanted to avoid Princess books). This book was great. This is the third book in Dragon Masters Series. It has easy to follow storyline, so even if you skip the first and second book and start with this one, you (or your kids) will be able to follow the story, but I recommend starting with the first book because it does refer to what happened in the book 1 and 2.My kids loved the series and asked to read more than 3 chapters a night. This is one of the Scholastic Branches series books. Branches series were written for early chapter book readers. There are two levels: first level is with color pictures and lower Lexile (According to Scholastic website, for ages 5-7, 80 page full color Branches series are: Boris by Andrew Joyner, Kung Pow Chicken by Cindi Marko, Missy's Super Duper Royal Deluxe by Susan Nees, Owl Diaries by Rebecca Elliott, Princess Pink and the Land of Fake-Believe by Noah Z Jones), second level is black and white with a bit higher Lexile (according to Scholastic Website, for ages 6-8, 96 page, black and white Branches series are: The amazing stardust friends by Heather Alexander Illustrated by Diane Le Feyer, Dragon Masters by Tracy West Illustrated by Graham Howells, Eerie Elementary by Jack Chabert Illustrated by Sam Ricks, Looniverse by David Lubar Illustrated by Matt Loveridge, Lotus Lane by Kyla May, Monkey Me by Timothy Roland, and the Notebook of Doom by Troy Cummings) . This Dragon Master series falls onto the second level. My daughter enjoyed Eerie Elementary series (took 45-60 min to read per book) and The Notebook of Doom (took 45-60 min to read per book). Branches series have easy to follow story lines and attractive illustrations (black and white for second level) and I highly recommend them.

LOOOOOOVE!!!
So I had books 9, 10, and 11 that I must have gotten at a book fair for a good price. I decided to give these books a try as a read aloud with my students in 1st grade and WOOOOWWW!! They LOVE them and so do I! The books are so fun, creative, and adventurous for both boys and girls!! I have to say that I too am extremely excited to read these books. As I have now read all three of those books with my students, I decided I HAD to HAVE the WHOLE series!!!!! So I have bought the whole series and am waiting for all of the books to be delivered. I even pre-purchased the two new books in the series. I can see these being the new Magic Tree House book series that kids LOVE and ADORE! SERIOUSLYYY!!! What I love best is that these are part of the Scholastic Branches books - so these are early chapter books that make reading fun and interesting for 1st-3rd graders! You won't regret getting these books!!

I love this series
The Dragon Master book series is a lot of fun to read. There are lots of different things that happen. It's a very amazing adventurous, funny, entertaining, and PG book. Drake is the main-ish character. He was an onion farmer. It is an imaginary setting. It's magical and funny. It's fairly easy to read and overall it's a very good book. What happens is that a group of people get chosen to be Dragon Masters and so on and so on.-Westley (9)

:)
I like this series for its exploration to young readers and people who need somethong young and happy under their level of reading. I like how it shows you the fantasy and fun the dragon masters series brings you. Its calming and though its way under my level i read them to make me happy on hard days when im not looking to read "The Map To Everywere" or "Dairy of a Surfer Villager" anytime soon.

Fun-filled adventure.
Since one can never have too many dragon books it's nice to have a series that works well for early chapter book readers. Not only are the stories fun with lots of action but the illustrations are pretty awesome as well. The illustrations are mixed in nicely with the text making the text not so intimidating. Secret of the Water Dragon is the third book in the series and focuses on Bo and his dragon whose powers are revealed as the story progresses. Bo receives a letter that leads him to try to steal the Dragon Stone. After he tells the others why he did this, the others try to help him rescue his family and stop the dark wizard from getting his hands on the stone. A fun-filled adventure with themes of courage, friendship, and loyalty mixed in throughout the story.

Our kids LOVE the Dragon Masters book series
We needed a good "first chapter" series with lots of pictures as for bedtime routine as picture books just became rather expensive. So I searched the internet and came across the recommendation for Scholastic's Dragon Masters book series. They LOVE all the characters/dragons in the books and love guessing what each person can do and what powers the dragons have.Whenever possible we use the Kindle edition and broadcast it to our TV via our Amazon Firebox (via wireless projection) so that everyone can see the text and the pictures. Unfortunately not all the books are available for Amazon Kindle, so some books we had to buy as hard paper and we are running out of space in our bookshelves as we have sooo many books, so we prefer electronic copies. Electronic copies also allow us to share it onto their Amazon Fire tablets for kids.Again, LOVED by all of our kids and we have different ages and grasp of the world. Unfortuantely we have read ALL the books available and now have to wait until March 2021 until the next book comes out.

The best early reader books we have found
My kids love this series. It is perfect for beginner readers to read alone, or to read aloud to younger readers to introduce them to chapter books. My 7 year old found them very easy to read, but was gripped by the stories and wishes there were more than 4 in the series (the end of this book hints towards a dragon master being brought in for the Hydra... so maybe they will bring an extra book out? we hope so!)My 4 year old absolutely loves this series too, and has a chapter or two each night for bedtime stories.Compared to other early reader books for this age group, the big difference with this particular series is that the story is a lot more compelling and gripping, rather than being too basic, babyish or laclustre. It has dragons, battles, friendship, wizards and all kinds of cool things. My kids really connect with these characters and love it. We will have to try other books in the scholastic branches series if they are as good as these

Captures the imagination of 5year olds that love dragons!
Wonderful series of books that has introduced my 5yo to the magic of books! When he’s a little older he’ll be able to read them again by himself :)

Granddaughter loves them
I bought this series for my six-year-old granddaughter. She is flying through these books like they were candy. I’ve been ordering them four at a time every two weeks on payday. She absolutely loves them

Seven-year-old approved series
We ordered the first three books in this series for my seven-year-old nephew who is just starting chapter books. Twice when we've been at a bookstore since he's looked for the fourth book in the series so I know it was a hit.
