desertcart.com: SURIEEN R410A R22 Valve Core Remover Installer Tool with Dual Size SAE 1/4 & 5/16 Port & Brass Adapter, Valve Core Removal Tool for R410 R32 R22 R12 R407 R404 R600 HVAC System : Automotive Review: Great product for evacuating mini splits. - I know alot of folks may not want to pull the trigger on this tool since its not a higher end name brand, this works exceptionally well. The only thing that you need to make sure of is that the tighter you make it, the harder it will be to pull the valve core out since the internal seal will squish against the schrader valve body. Once you understand how tight it needs to be, its very easy to use and removal is a piece of cake. Great build quality decent weight, not too large where it would be difficult to use, I used this to evacuate a mini split line set and worked wonders and got the line set to vacuum very quickly. So the shrader valve will fit behind the valve so you can remove the core, pull it past the valve and close the valve without opening the tool if you dont have to. you will need to use the included 5/16 adapters for a R410A or R32 minisplit. Id imagine also for any other A2L refrigerant. Review: Works as good as the $65 ones. - This worked just as good as my $65 one that just broke after 10 uses. This is a great deal. It works for both sizes. The $65 ones just work for one side.

Quality issues. Just look at the item photo!
I bought two of these and the quality was wildly different between them. The side port on one was bent. The part where the port fit into the body of the tool was corroded or brazed. On the other one, you could see that it was press fit into the body and it would slightly turn if you tightened a hose on it. Previously, I bought a different one on Amazon and that side port connected via a Tee making it secure and seal well. That one was a party of a set and was worked perfectly. Maybe I got a bad pick with these. If you look at the main picture for this item on Amazon (at the time of posting this review) and zoom in, you can even see what I'm talking about! I wanted three removal tools so that when I pulled vacuum, I could use both liquid line and suction line ports and isolate my micron gauge. That way, I could pull vacuum faster and keep my expensive sensor safe. I wouldn't do that with these. I went back and ordered others.

Risky design for1/4 SAE nut
Update: I purchased another one and selected one with some small ball valves included in the kit. I was able to determine that misunderstood how my vacuum pump worked. This particular vacuum pump leaks air back when I shut it off so the ball valve made it possible to isolate the vacuum pump from the Schrader valve removal tool. I now understand that finger tight was appropriate. I was offered a refund but I broke it and misused it so I will decline the refund. Original post: I bought this item and kept it on the shelf for 6 months waiting for the day when I complete my mini split installation. I learned that the 1/4 SAE nut is retained by a ring in a slot. If you try to eliminate leaks by tightening this beyond finger tight, you will pull the wire out of the slot in the nut and the majority of the tool risks coming off and releasing all of the refrigerant. Now for the gory details: the 1/4 inch flare body has a 7/16-20 thread and the O-ring OD is about the same as the thread dimension. The force pushing out when 300 PSI is inside the fitting is about 45 lbs. You feel this force when pushing the plunger in against the pressure. It is about 1/8 inch diameter so the force at 300 psi is 3.5 lbs. If I tighten the nut without pliers, just my rough fingers, I can produce about 20 inch pounds or about 1.66 ft-lbs. The force on the wire from my fingers is about 226 lbs which is much higher than the force produced by the pressure in the system. When I use a pair of pliers, I can achieve 10 ft-lbs which puts 1500 lbs of force on the wire and the wire squeezes out of its slot and the fitting fails. I recommend not using a pair of pliers on the knurled nut in the middle of the device. If the nut spins freely, right up to stopping, it is OK but if it is difficult to turn, the wire is out of the slot and the device is not safe to use. I need a replacement and I will look for one with a safer design so I can use pliers to over tighten it.

Changed the valve core without discharging the Mini-Split so a success!
The last time I topped up R410a refrigerant on my 12,000 BTU, Klimaire mini-split the Schrader valve stuck open. The gauge adapter had its own valve so I left that on until this valve core tool arrived. I did lose a small bit of refrigerant while I removed the adapter and screwed on the valve core tool but not enough to worry about in the 10 seconds it took to do this. (Wear gloves, you could freeze your fingers) Once on, the tool worked perfectly, removing the defective core and replacing it with a new core with no refrigerant loss.
