It has the feel of an ice axe, light and wieldy. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you have the measure it becomes an extention of your arm. Ignore videos showing people sticking the spike into split logs and lifting them - it can do that but it is not the sappie's forte. Lifting chord length rounds and picking wood is what it does. The light weight and curved point make absolute sense. If you have a pickup then trust me - you need one of these, you'll wonder what you did before after just a few seconds of use. Great kit, well executed. I wish I had one years ago.
