Toddler loves it so much, she sleeps with it!
My little 2 year old loves this book so much, she'll take it to bed with her! The book is small, a little narrower than a board book, and the pages are regular paper (she's ripped one page, bu that's fixed with tape) but the illustrations are so charming...classic Eric Carle. The ending doesn't really say much, except that the moon grew back (it IS about the cycle of the moon, after all), but I think she likes the thought of Papa going to get the moon for the daughter to play with. I do have to substitute "Daddy" for "Papa" since she calls her grandfather that, and to avoid confusion, but my husband reads it verbatim, and she understands that "Papa" for the story = "Daddy". Charming, charming story, I would recommend it for anyone with a toddler who likes the moon and stars right now. There are pages to open for the full illustration, and a fold-out full moon page in the middle of the story that she likes, but needs help to fold back the right way. Highly recommend!

Children will love the joyful way in which this problem is solved.
After reading comments of (board book) version having no resolution- ? I do not agree. Papa, please get the moon for me, by Eric Carle, reinvents the story in its final pages. 'Each night the moon grew... and grew and grew...' Ending with a two page picture of the full moon, no written words. The back cover of this book explains intent and resolution. It is in the wonder of imagination; a beautiful illustration of how resolution can be found with your own words. When my granddaughter and I turn to that final page, the book raised higher than she can reach, she reaches for that moon, creating a dream of her own. Sometimes we reflect upon our favorite part of the story. Sometimes the moon whispers, Goodnight.. It's not always what one reads. It's how you read it.

Great Father’s Day present!
Absolutely adorable little “pop-up” board book. We gave it to my father/my daughter’s papa as a Father’s Day gift. Even though the Papa in the story is her father, the sentiment is still there for a grandparent. The story is sweet, the usual great illustrations, and I love the fold-out board book format. The ending is absolutely fine and I’m not concerned about my 6-month old ripping the fold out pages- she literally gnaws on everything anyways.

New favorite for my two granddaughters!
This review is for the 8" x 11" board book version: The book itself is sturdy and well made, but the fold-out illustration extensions have been torn and repaired many times, as you might expect for a child's favorite book that has been read and re-read, usually several times each night. Both of the children delight in this book, turning the pages themselves as their father, their mother, or "Pop-pop" ( me ) reads it to them. I thought they would tire of the repetition, but apparently not. It is one of the first books they ask for, and it has been requested countless times. The youngest, just 18 months, will toddle over to the playroom bookshelf, pick this out and bring it to her daddy to read over and over again. Small hands aren't always as careful as they could be with the paper fold-outs, but no lasting damage has been done, so far. A bargain, from where I sit, that has brought so many precious moments with the little ones, especially now that Big Sister is reading it to little sister ( probably from memory more than sight ). Heaven help me if I try to read from memory and get a single word wrong! Big Sister will *immediately* correct me, and tell me the RIGHT word! Gotta love it.

Excellent Children’s Book
I love this story by Eric carle! So much so that I held a Prek graduation with this book as the theme. I love that the pages have pull out pages and larger images and was so excited to get the cd. The only reason I’m giving for stars is because the cd came cracked in the center and I was unable to play it at graduation.

Beautiful story and beautiful art!
We were studying the phases of the moon this year in Classical Conversations cycle 2 and found this book at our local library. My 5 year old loved it so much we read it every night until we had to return the book. My oldest daughter actually bought this for her for Christmas this year. I will say (although completely our fault for not paying attention) we thought this book would be much bigger than what it is. It is a book that needs to be read with supervision with younger children as it has foldouts etc and it is paper not a board book.
