After some alterations, I'm happy so far...
Nice big mallet head and the length is great for playing a surdo (Samba). The handle is a bit slippery for me so I added some bike tape. I have a concern about the head and its longevity, but so far so good. I wrapped some thin cloth on the head to help protect it and hopefully that will work.

Not good for school bands
It sounds good and feels good in your hand. I would have given it 5 stars, but the soft white ball is coming apart. I teach Band in a Middle School and the kids continue to pick at it. Once it falls apart, I will need a different brand.

Good all-around mallet
Good weight and balance. Works well as an all-around concert beater (mallet). The head is a medium hardness.
