Meguiar's MT300 Dual Action Variable Speed Polisher

 9/6/18 Update: I have returned both MT300 polishers that gave me the trouble I mention below. Today, I received a check for a full refund for both polishers from Meguiars. Though I cannot recommend the MT300 polisher, I do love Meguiars chemicals and appreciate their integrity in refunding the polisher. So I moved my star rating from one to two stars. A good company.I did a lot of homework on the MT300 unit. From the reviews I felt good about ordering it, and, I have liked Meguiar's cleaning chemicals so I trusted this would be a solid unit. I own a detailing business. I polished 5 cars with this unit and it started to malfunction - power started cutting out when pulling the trigger. It was intermittent at first but then failed completely. So, I returned it to Meguiars and they repaired it at no cost - though I paid shipping to get it to the repair shop.In the meantime, I decided to order another MT300. I had jobs to do and could not wait for the unit being repaired. My mistake. The new MT300 arrived and after two cars, the same problem is occurring. Power is cutting out and I expect it to malfunction completely as the first one did. I haven't polished 10 cars between the two units and both have failed.After one car, the repaired MT 300 has been working. We'll see. So far, I'm just not impressed. I'm easy on equipment. Neither unit has ever been dropped or received improper care or use. I have used it per manufacturers instructions. I'm open to suggestion on a good, long running, durable polishing brand. I won't be ordering the MT300 again.7/8/18 - The unit that was repaired has now failed again after 7 months-or-so. I have asked for a refund and the units are going back. We'll see how Mequiars does with making it right.

Meguiar's has added another arrow to their quiver of outstanding Detailing Tools! This item came exactly as advertised and performed exactly as I expected. Great soft start function, very comfortable in my hands, and performed like a professional grade tool should. I ordered the DBP5, 5" backing plate with it as this is my preferred pad size. I would recommend that you order the backing plate & pad size of your choice as it does not come with a pad or backing plate. Most users have their preferred backing plate size already in their detailing bag but in case you don't be sure to order a backing plate and pads. I started by washing the car to remove loose contaminant and then moved to the Meguiar's G1016 Smooth Surface Clay kit to remove any bonded contaminant. I then used the Meguiar's DMCKIT5 DA Microfiber Correction System Kit to do some defect removal as I had some rather significant scratches in the clear coat. The DA Microfiber Correction Compound used with the New MT300 performed very well, removing the scratches and swirls in my black paint quickly. The finishing wax in the kit put just the right final touches on my paint creating incredible dark, swirl free reflectivity in the paint which took no time at all with the MT300 and the DA Microfiber wax pad. For my next project I will be ordering the new Meguiar's DFC5, 5" DA Foam Cutting Disc and the new DFP5, 5" DA Foam polishing Disk. It will be nice to compare these new foam pads to the DA Microfiber pads that I love. I also love the new backing plates that have the white indicator line that shows you if the pad is still spinning or if you are applying too much pressure while working the machine. I highly recommend Meguiar's new MT300 Pro Power DA Polisher.

While I have had this polisher a few months, I was just now able to take it out and put it to use.I must say that this was my first step towards a nice DA polisher. I have used cheaper buffers before, and used them mainly for the finally buffing and removal stages. While they work, nothing can compare with the MT300.I can not vouch for the longevity of this, as I have only used it on one car thus far. But, for the money, I am very happy with the product. I was able to easily apply the Meguiars Glaze, and Hi-Tech Yellow wax with this product. I was able to have a very uniform application, and faster application than in times past. I was also very pleased with how deep and rich the paint looked after it was buffed.I am very particular and clay barred the car first. This honestly is the longest process, and how long it takes just depends on the condition of your paint. Then I applied the Glaze #7 with a black pad and the MT300, then I removed the glaze and buffed to a deep shine. Then I used Hi-Tech Yellow Wax #26. I then used the Micro fiber finishing/buffing pads, and got a deep shine.No one would guess that the paint on this car is 10 years old.

This product worked very well for me. I purchased this and Meguiar's DMCKIT6 DA Microfiber Correction System Kit. It was purchased to attempt to correct a 9-year old, weathered and damaged metallic black with clearcoat finish.I used the correction kit with this to successfully correct most of the paint issues on my car. The polisher performed flawlessly. Compared to a traditional high speed buffer it is much easier to use and much safer/friendlier to paint. The digital torque load management and ramping startup speed is different than a regular buffer or grinder, but actually part of the magic of why this polisher effectively buffs/polishes yet with little risk to paint, corners, edges, or trim.It is relatively light weight for what it is. It is built well, and looks easy to maintain. It even comes with spare brushes which can be quickly changed. If I could add three things to this, it would be 1) slightly longer cord (still used with an extension), spring-loaded handle fasteners with quick locks so the handle can rotate without loosening/tightening, and a nice case. These are minor convenience improvements only though.I am happy with the results from using this. The product performed quite well. I highly recommend it and the paint correction kit if needed.

This tool is pretty nice tool. I wpuld not recommend for production settong only personal use. It creates lots of heat which cause the pads to melt into backing.

This was the best tool for cleaning my vehicles. It works just as easy as they say. Follow the directions to a super clean shine. My 2010 Tacoma had a dull roof.

Worked good while it lasted. I dropped it once and it cracked and stopped working. My rules. Porter cables, and even harbor freight polishers have dropped hundreds of times and...

Very nice and powerful, bought used, I used this on my buddies car for practice. He had swirling everywhere moderately deep, no deep abuse scratching.

These things are chinese made garbage. My neighbor bought one and had to send it back three times. He asked for a refund after fourth time.

Great tool if you want to save money and care for your cars finish yourself. The adjustable RPM control is a great feature.
