A non-academic text
I do not normally write reviews, but I believe that this one is warranted.I went in with high hopes in purchasing this text, and should have gathered from the lack of reviews that I was taking a risk in making this purchase. But I digress. The theme of the text is interesting enough, but the poor execution does little justice to it.Being familiar with anthropological texts, I was hoping for a more scholarly account, but what I found therein were little more than non cohesive treatments of the figures in question. A bit of the material cited is material that has been reiterated across the internet for years, as opposed to a more scholarly and in depth analysis of the mythology of the figures in question. It offers very little in the way of innovation on the subject. One or two pages on each figure with photos staggered throughout which were in need of editing, especially the fonts used in tandem.I finished the text on my way home on the train and was confused, because it arrives at no conclusion. It gives the impression that the text itself is incomplete, and as opposed to desiring more, I was turned off to further inquiry on the subject with the author as my guide.Alternatively, a more scholarly treatment of a related theme can be found in The Gẹ̀lẹ̀dé spectacle by Babatunde Lawal.Just my two cents on the subject.

Deep read into the spiritual understanding of the mothers in traditional African spiritual system
I really enjoyed the depth of knowledge into the mystery of Oyo Ifa that Mr. Mason dives into through his writing. You don't call this book, it calls you with deep messages about culture, history, and spiritual knowledge. Not a casual read, but one that will open your consciousness to higher levels. Thank you for your scholarship Mr. Mason. Awesome.
