A solid 2.5" HDD. Reviewing the HWAYO 750 GB drive
I actually bought two different 750 GB external Hard Drives (HDD). The HWAYO HDD is mounted in a brushed aluminum case. Both end pieces are plastic.HDD is different from an SSD (Solid State Drive) in that the HDD is a mechanical drive with spinning platter and a movable head. HDDs are not as rugged as SSD and they require more power (current). The HWAYO drive comes with a USB cable with a USB-A on the computer end and a USB Micro B on the drive end. This cable provides more power for the HDD This cable not only provides more power, it also increase the data transfer to drive if the computer has v 3.0 USB.An HDD will maintain the data for a longer period than SSD as long as it is not dropped, bumped, or josteled. An SSD drive basically charges and discharges internal solid state cells. The charge will last about a year or so if the SSD is left unpowered. For cloning and archiving, an HHD is better unplugged and stored away. An SSD should be powered every so often. The HWAYO came in a box for 2.5" External case. The HDD is a Samsung drive. If you buy this exteranl HDD you may or may not get a Samsung HDD. I am guessing they buy a batch of 2.5" drives at the best price so it could be any brand. I ran a HDD test and it came back with perfect status. Problem and/or weak sectors not found. No spin up nor data transfer errors. Internal temp was 31 degrees C.The S.M.A.R.T. came back passing all tests. The second drive I will label as "B". In my review of the "B" drive, I will label the HWAYO HDD as the "A" drive. The "B" drive had a current temp of 20 degrees C. The "B" drive passed all tests and the S.M.A.R.T. tests as well.Either drive will do a good job.

Cant be plugged into a pc until the pc in up and runnin
The first thing I noticed with this drive was the sleeve that came with it. The drive does not fit into that sleeve. The next thing that happened was when I plugged it in, there was a noise coming out of it. Sounded like the fan was unstable. I finally got that to stop after hitting it a couple times. Then it was working. The last thing I found after plugging it in was the fact that my pc wouldnt boot up while the drive was plugged in. And the fan noise started up again and I couldnt get it to stop this time. This is a storage device for a laptop (that I somehow didnt know until it got here). But it seems to me that regardless of it being for a laptop, it should work with a desktop PC. It does not. You could plug it up after turning on the computer, but that is not what I bought it for. I have to return it.

Worked great for awhile, but then kept running into formatting/corruption errors
This worked fine for awhile and the transfer speeds were awesome, but then it kept giving me the file corruption error and telling me it needs to be reformatted. Well I backed it up and reformatted it and then it gave me the error again a few weeks later. I do not have this issue with my Toshiba external HDD. Also a note that this will not work as an XboxOne HDD. After the second reformat I decided to give that a try and it will not work.
