Nice love story
This was a nice love story with a couple of steamy scenes. Overall I enjoyed this book. There were some grammatical errors that stalled the reading for me and sometimes the dialogue was a little bit long winded. But overall a positive 4 stars.

Cowboys and hearts
I've been a massive Harper Sloan fan since the Corps series. So this is something a bit different and I liked it just as much.Lost Rider is about the lost rider Maverick Austin Davis, after being told his rodeo career is over he's forced home to a place he escaped ten years ago.His return is fraught with the pain, troubles and emotions of the reasons he left, but one thing above all, apart from his brother and sister, was Leighton Elizabeth James that he left behind.Leighton has been in love with Maverick since she can remember but he completely broke her heart before he left. So with his return Leighton is no longer the little girl he left behind, she's a beautiful strong woman and won't stand for Maverick breaking her heart a second time.I loved Leighton even with her insecurities she was the powerful one of this relationship, while I'm used to over the top alpha from Ms. Sloan Maverick wasn't so, he was alpha, but different and refreshing, he had many side's which was understandable from the hurt of his past. This is Maverick's second chance at happiness with his family, but more importantly with Leighton, the woman who is has had his heart just as long as she's loved him. Let's just say Maverick and Leighton are so perfect for each and once Maverick finally realised she was his everything, he just has to make her realise her Lost Rider is her happy ever after. I do love these cowboy romances and this one definitely didn't disappoint. So saddle up for an emotional ride.

A sweet, sassy and steamy second chance love story that'll leave your heart reeling...
OK, so as a general rule I love Harper Sloan. She just has the whole alpha hero thing down to a T... she just rocks MAJOR socks when it comes to sexy and panty-melting men. When news came out of her new Coming Home series I was rather chuffed, but at the same time I was a little apprehensive... her alpha men are on point, but Maverick is a Cowboy. Ever since Cristin Harber's Cash Garrison, I just cannot get enough! It takes a lot for any alpha cowboy to even come close to Cash, he's just my ultimate dream... however, Maverick Davis... well, in typical Harper Sloan fashion he just made me hot, sweaty and had me coming undone at the seams! This guy is HOT.Plot wise this story isn't exactly groundbreaking, it has been done... however, as with all her other books, Harper Sloan's writing skill is partly what makes Lost Rider so freaking amazing. The other thing that makes this book so damn brilliant is the character development. I found both Leighton and Maverick so easy to love and empathise with. They made it impossible for me to put the book down. I found myself lost in every word and every emotion. Between Leighton's spunk and Maverick's broodiness you are just enraptured by their sexual chemistry and the pressure cooker tension that builds with every single of of their interactions. This was just an overwhelmingly sweet love story about second chances and the tenacity of true love. This story was just so beautiful. It was bold and cheeky and it really gripped me and made me feel all the hurt, anguish and the deep seated and unwavering feelings. Here's the thing, I know I've said it before that the plot has been done and the story is a little predictable - but in my opinion it's what made it so easy to read and so simple to enjoy. The writing itself was exquisite and alluring. It was superbly paced and deliciously scintillating. I just loved it. Period.I'm so very excited to get more of the Davis siblings. I cannot wait to get to know Quinn and Clay so much better. The Coming Home series has most certainly had an enthralling and moreish start. It has left me with 'Twister' syndrome... you know, when you're left asking - "Please sir, can I have some more?" And what wouldn't I give to have so much more of Lost Rider... so much more of Maverick and Leighton...

Sweet second chance country romance
‘She is. She was my compass when I was lost without direction. She was the pull I always felt to come home but never had the balls to try, knowing that it might be too late. She was my biggest regret, but she will be my biggest accomplishment – God willing.’The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover, I love a good cowboy romance. The other reason I wanted to read this is because it is a second chance love story and I am a sucker for those. Harper Sloan definitely delivers with this story set in Pine Oak, Texas. I love the small town community aspect, where everyone grew up together and everyone knows your business. I think if I lived in one I wouldn’t enjoy that but I like reading about it ☺Maverick left home ten years ago to realise his dreams as a rodeo star. His father was dead set against him pursuing rodeo as a career, they have a history of being at loggerheads with each other so to spite him, he did it anyway. Turns out it was the right choice, he really did achieve what he set out to do with great success. The life of a rodeo circuit rider also comes with the risk of injury and after ten years of having his body thrown around, it’s was time to hang up his boots and change directions, well after he drowned his sorrows and regrets in alcohol.‘I was so ****** alone. On the top of my game, ridin’ the beasts that made me feel like a ****** god, but even in a sold-out arena, I felt like I was in a room all by myself.’The death of Maverick’s father brings him back home to his family ranch, filled with memories he would rather forget. It also brings him back to his siblings, older brother Clay and little sister Quinn. He has seen them over the years, when they have come to support him on the circuit but he has avoided the family farm completely. Quinn has missed her brother and is so happy to have him home.A difficult relationship with his father wasn’t the only reason Maverick was keen to get out of town at 18. Leighton James was the other. She is the best friend of his sister Quinn, a girl that lived and grew up on the farm next door. She was pretty much in love with Maverick from her early teens. He knew this and kept her at arms length, knowing that one day he would be leaving to pursue his rodeo dreams. In fact, the night before he left he made sure she knew there was no hope for the two of them, breaking her heart. And his own.In the 10 years since he left, Leighton has blossomed into a beautiful young woman. Life has been hard for her but she is doing okay. Before she lays eyes on Maverick she senses him, feels his presence in the room. His reaction to seeing her is not what what she expected, hell even I was like WTF Maverick? I wanted to kick his arrogant butt! One thing is startlingly clear though, these two care very deeply for each other. There are unresolved feelings between them. There is a bit of kicking and screaming involved when they finally have ‘that’ conversation. It needs to happen so they can clear the air and move forward with their respective lives. If Maverick had his way it would be with each other but Leighton is very gun shy when it comes to him, he has stomped on her heart before and there is nothing stopping him doing it again.Maverick is determined to show Leighton that his heart and body now resides in Pine Oak and he plans to build his future here, having her by his side would be the final missing piece in his life. He knows that he needs to prove it by laying down concrete foundations, cementing his life back into the town.‘All I’m asking is that you give me a chance. Give us a chance. It wasn’t our time back then, but we wouldn’t be back together like this if it wasn’t meant to be now. I can’t promise that it will be an easy ride, but stick with me and I’ll show you that I’m pretty damn good at holdin’ on for the long haul.’This lost rider has been found.

Way overboard
I've read a few of Harper Sloan books but I could not get into this book. The main characters were alright but frankly quite boring and dramatic. So Leighton had a crush on Maverick all her life that she thought was not reciprocated and he left town to pursue his Rodeo career after hurting with harsh parting words. Then his Dad dies and he comes home and they reunite but the whole story is of her constantly going on about her hurt when she was 16. Way too dramatic about something that was quite frankly minuscule and could have been resolved in one page was dragged on and on. Don't get me wrong it wasn't an awful story but just way too dramatic about a situation most 16yr old would move on from after a week of drama.

3.5 Maverick and Leighton Stars
I liked this second chance romance but I didn't love it which was disappointing because I started off with high hopes and I should say right here and now that the beginning of book was absolutely awesome. A hero named Maverick and songs by Chris Stapleton to set the scene and sign me up, I'm in.The synopsis was most alluring - hot brooding Rodeo champion , Maverick, returns out of necessity to his childhood home and the girl he left behind. Leighton has soldiered on with her life in his absence but her heart has always belonged to this cowboy. It has all the Harper Sloan hallmarks of a cracking novel - passionate love and family dynamics but something didn't quite enthral me as it has with her other books and I think it was too much inner monologue. I'm not a big fan of inner monologues ,although at times they definitely serve their purpose. It felt like the middle of the book was all taking place in the H/h's heads. However, if you are a fan of inner monologues then you will be in kindle nirvana! The secondary characters were engaging - I will definitely be reading Quin's story next. I liked Clay very much. Also, there were a couple of twists in the story I hadn't anticipated which were surprising and tugged at my heartstrings.HEA? YesCheating? No

Heartfelt, raw emotion, laugh out loud moments and some downright sexy cowboys-Harper at her best!
So much love and yet so much hate. Oh how the two entwine. A lifetime.of abuse and hatefulness drove Maverick away. So many lies and secrets caused him the worst kind of heartache driven by the need to feel wanted and needing to belong. Leighton on the other hand was left behind and the pieces picked up by Clay and Quinn. Together they survived his departure. It's not till his return that the age old lies and some much needed truths emerge. So well written had me turning the pages until the end. Love Harper for her laughter amongst the lows. The 'broken hooha' moment had me LOL in the middle of a packed train 😉😉 Can't wait for Quinn's story and Clay will be a force to be reckoned with too I think. Absolutely brilliant start to another unforgettable series Harper so thank u 😀😀

SADDLE UP AND ENJOY
My princess always wears bootsLost rider is book one of the new series by Harper Sloan, having read all Harpers previous books I eagerly one clicked and got ready for a new ride.A story of second chances, regrets and starting a new.About the plot;Maverick left his town 10 years ago escaping an abusive father to make it big on the riding circuit, he left his brother and sister and the girl who had the power to make him stay if he had let something develop between them.10 years later Maverick returns home for his father's funeral.Leighton is the best friend of Quinn Mavericks sister and has always been in their lives, Leighton has always loved Maverick and as she got older had dreams of being his girl but he left suddenly squashing those dreams and Leighton's heart never did piece back together.Maverick:She was my compass when I was lost. She was the pull I always felt to come home but never had the balls to try, knowing that it might be to late. She was my biggest regret, but will always be my biggest accomplishment- God willing.I love a story with a hot cowboy this wasn't as hot as I would of liked though, Maverick wasn't the kind of alpha character I like, I thought he was going to be when he rolled into the town with attitude but as the story progresses the softer side to Maverick was more on show.Very little drama or angst in Lost Rider I would call it an ideal Sunday read.Lost rider is a sweet heartwarming story totally different to any previous series of Harper Sloan. Lost Rider hasn't topped any previous series for me and i've read them all but I will have to read on in the series maybe a Alpha cowboy will come along and turn me ;-)*side note *Many editing errors, gaps in between words etc I was surprised about this from this author. If you're not a perfectionist with such things and focus more on the plot, saddle up
