Works great with the Smart Life app & Alexa
Plug works great. Easy install though the Smart Life app. Push and hold the power button on the plug until the red light starts flashing fast (several seconds). Then open the app and add a new device. It will connect in less than a minute or so. You can then name the device whatever you want - default is "smart plug" but if you've got more than one you'll want a different name. Then you can connect with Alexa (mine connected automatically as I already have other Smart Life devices). Then you're good to go with Alexa voice control. Great deal for the price

Work perfectly for all of my lamps; would definitely purchase more
These work really well! They are fairly priced, so I have gotten to use these all with various lamps in my house. They are pretty easy to install; the only catch is that I had to go through the install steps twice with every socket. That was not a big deal, it just was a bit frustrating and took a few extra minutes. That being said, I would purchase these again.Pros: work perfectly with my many lampsCon: had to go through install steps twice when setting up

Great while they lasted (about 2 years)
These worked pretty well. They were a little harder to connect than others that I’ve used. They did last two years, and then randomly died or glitched out. Since this has happened to two out of the pack in the last month, I just assume the others are going to follow soon

Why would anyone buy different plugs?
I usually make my own wifi switches, but these were cheaper than it costs me to make my own. Got these for $19.97 on Prime Day and I'm pretty happy. They set up in 3 mins if you're using their app, but add a few more if you're controlling them with an Alexa device. The upside is you can plug a power strip into these and control several things are once. I used one to control the day/night cycle for the lights in a lizard enclosure. The downside is they take up too much space. When I make my own switches I put the unit somewhere inline in the cord. They are good for controlling ceiling fans. These are too big to plug more than one in a single outlet.I don't know why anyone would buy different plugs when these are so cheap and do everything the more expensive plugs do, other than make a lamp/light bulb dimmable.

Good: they retain state after an outage. Bad: odd setup problems are frustrating
The important factor for me is that, if this plug is On before a power outage, it will continue to be On after the outage is over. It turned out not easy to find such behavior. I went through 2 different models of plugs and had to return them because they behaved in the opposite way - they would turn my devices off after an outage was over. Note that both behaviors are valid depending on your needs. If you are concerned about leaving your home during an outage and not realizing that you had a light or appliance turned on, then you may want the plug to go to Off state when the power comes back in your absence. But if you purposefully want to keep a device on while you are away, then you don’t want the plug to go Off every time your power cycles. I needed the latter, and these plugs fit the bill. Ideally, I wish this could be a configurable app setting, so I can have both scenarios to choose from…something for the manufacturer to consider. Also, the plugs are compact size, and the app has an easy interface and many features including automation.I’m subtracting two stars because the plugs have faulty setup and gave me a lot of trouble. It was the problem with the plugs, not my wifi…my wifi is time-tested and satisfies all the necessary requirements, I double-checked….but the plugs kept timing out during setup, despite resetting them multiple times and doing everything according to the instructions. About to return them back to amazon, I reset and tried them with another wifi network just in case…and they connected. Baffled, I went back and tried it with my main wifi one more time, and that time they paired with no problem even though I did not do anything different. Really strange behavior, so obviously some odd problem with the setup process, and that’s not a good thing…. Time will tell how reliably they will stay connected…so far so good.EDIT: I left the plugs on for a long time and have not opened the app for a couple of months. Today I opened the app and the plugs are shown offline even though they are connected and the light indicator shows them on. Physically unplugged and plugged them back in and they instantly went online in the app. Submitted the support question to the customer support in the app. They better have a good explanation. If the plugs just go offline periodically then it's totally unreliable and garbage product, and not suitable for remote control. Will update the review then I hear back from them.

Bang for Your Buck for Your Smart Home
These wifi smart plugs were way easier to set up and install with the Kasa app than the last product I bought for this purpose. The Kasa app even has a function to turn lights on and off at random in case someone is really watching your home to see if you are away. The programming and testing was easy, and they worked reliably the whole week we were away. (I have indoor security cameras so I was checking!) It's fun telling Alexa to turn stuff on and off. A must at Christmas.

Work great as timers, but don't depend on them for remote access.
These units work great for the purpose of timers and remote toggling of outlets. They do have one very irritating defect, they lose contact with the application or wifi. There isn't any rhythm or pattern to this. Some times they stay connected or months at a time, other times just weeks. The bottom line....they are NOT DEPENDABLE remote access. If they fade out when you are not home, you cannot toggle them till the power is reset. Which makes them less valuable in a remote operation. The good news is the scheduled time function seems to stay on track.

Life changing!
I love these. They’ve made my life so much easier. I have a schedule set on the Smart Life App, yo where they turn on when my first alarm goes off to wake up for work and then I have them set to turn off by the time I should be out of the house. When my parents are away from their home, I like to turn on some lights from my phone to make it seem like someone is home and I live over an hour away. The timer option are great because I can set it and forget about it.They’re also fun to play jokes on or kids who are misbehaving and saying there’s a ghost in the room who plays with the lights lol!
