Kotobukiya Marvel Comics: Dark Phoenix Bishoujo Statue

Gorgeous statue! I got this shortly after it came out, so I lucked out on the price. If you're reading this review now and considering buying her, I bet you're wishing you had a time machine!I've seen a lot of concerns voiced about the quality of the gold paint and the risk of the statue leaning with age. My particular statue has not had any issue with the gold paint rubbing off or becoming "sticky/gooey", like some have experienced with the gold paint on their older Kotobukiya statues. As for leaning, none so far, but I think a huge factor in that is the temperature of where you keep the statue. Keeping her under hot lights or near any sort of heat source will cause some of Kotobukiya's statues to lean because of the PVC they're made of. However, I imagine that if they start leaning due to the heat, you can probably fix them by heating them again and putting them back in place.This is one of the last statues Kotobukiya made for the bishoujo line in the 1/8 scale before switching over to 1/7. Though, she is a beautiful statue, especially the way she looks with a back light. So, scaling issues aside, she'll still look fine in your collection.

i just received her today. all in all, i'm pretty pleased. the fire beneath her feet has more of a red tone than is apparent in the picture, which is great, very attractive.my reservation is that she is sort of leaning back more than i realized from looking at the picture. you can tell in the pic that she holds her body at sharp angles, but i now notice that her figure overall is angled back a bit rather than upright. i don't know if this is to suggest that she is about to take off or land, but she is not standing and posing, as it doesn't look balanced. i notice it more from some angles than others, and i expect i will get used to it. she was very secure in her box, so i don't believe i received one that was damaged or flawed in some way.i don't mind her manga face, but it does seem sort of doll-like in person.still, i am happy enough with her that i plan to acquire a few more of these figures.

My Kotobukiya Dark Phoenix came today. It looks great and has only minimal production flaws from the injection molds. The painted on face isn't quite as sharp/crisp as the pictures but overall the whole piece is as seen on the photo previews. The translucent ends to her hair, hand and feet add some great character with any lights behind her. It feels very durable as well and all the thinner portions flex and bend easily while the base makes the item stable and sturdy. I'm happy with her, especially considering what many plastic statuettes cost comparatively. Finally the box is sweet looking itself. Highly recommended if you like good quality at a far lower price than most PVC based statues.

Fantastic, anime-inspired, sculpture. The use of translucent materials make this product really stand-out as a very fun piece of eye-candy. The figure is secured to the fire base via a single screw, which does not offer the greatest stability, but the figure is well-balanced, so this is not too much of a concern. Overall, a fantastic piece for the collector/fan.

She's really a beautiful statue. Her paint job was almost flawless except for a teeny little speck where the gold paint was missing. No big deal and it happens with these collectibles sometimes. I waited a long time to add Dark Phoenix to my collection and I couldn't be more happy with such a stunning statue! If you're a fan of this character or of Kotobukiya she's a must have.

The quality of Kotobukiya's Marvel Bishoujo line is simply amazing. After being able to get my hands on one I now know that I'll be collecting them all. These also make great gifts for anyone who is fond of marvel comics,

I already have 5 bishoujo statues from Kotobukiya, and this one is simply amazing! its smaller than the others, but its one of the most beautifully detailed! Love it!

I like the anime eyes and all the cool little details. Nice addition to my window box of Marvel/DC collection.
