Vogue Cuisine Onion Soup & Seasoning Base 4oz - Low Sodium, Gluten Free, All Natural Ingredients

I had never tried Vogue Cuisine Onion soup & seasoning base before, but I needed some soup base so I took a chance & ordered it because it is low sodium option and has many good reviews. Well I am not disappointed at all, it's really good! It has real onion pieces & delicious flavor for being low in sodium. I do use more than the serving size to make it a bit stronger, but even so the sodium is much lower than i can find elsewhere. I have only used it for soup so far, not for onion dip or anything else, but as a soup base i like it very much.(I also bought the chicken flavored soup base as well and it's awesome as well, i am almost through the jar already. Since both flavors are yummy I just ordered the veggie broth flavor, it has great reviews so i anticipate it being as good as the others, will review once i try it out...)

A friend told me about this product. She is very health-conscious when it comes to food for her kids. One of her kids has allergy, so she has also been looking for good gluten free food products. She first found this line of soup base in a high-end food store in the East Coast and tried it out. Her whole family loved (and still loves) it. She sent me one as gift a few months ago and we tried it out and my kids love it too. We used to boil meat and vegetable or 2-3 hours and used the soup to cook food for the kids. This was very time and energy consuming. We tried other soup bases in the past but the kids complained about being very thirsty after drinking those. This one is great. It saves us a lot of work and the kids still get healthy delicious soup! I recently found it on Amazon & bought 5 different flavors. The order arrived within 2 days with my Amazon Prime membership and we now can enjoy the different flavors.

This stuff is great for recipies that call for onion soup powder or onion taste of any sort. I most often use it for a low carb whitecastle style burgure casarole and it tastes great. I'd say even adding it to regular burgers would taste great, although we've not done it yet because my husband has his "special" grilled burger recipe and isn't too keen on modifying it.

Love this Onion Soup base for making broth. Very flavorful and contains no automotive anti-freeze like some popular name-brands. (Yep, check out the others' ingredients - propylene glycol). Very value priced. Can't go wrong. WARNING: Be advised, for some strange reason Amazon affixes a 'Vege Based' bar code to this 4 oz jar of Onion Based version so if you order the Onion Base....you might receive the Vege Based instead. Happened to me, but the Vogue Cuisine people shipped me a 12 oz Onion Base for free to make up for it. Seems Amazon is not confused with the 12 oz. version. So, one less star due to Amazon's FOPAR and not Vogue Cuisine. They did right by me.

If you are used to regular chicken and beef broth, this will be a shock! The taste is very watered down and bland. For me, it works better adding onion soup base powder to my ingredients during the vegetable cooking process, not as a soup.As a soup base, even after adding up to 3 teaspoons per cup (3x the amount suggested), still tastes bland and watered down to me???Thumbs up for the natural ingredients and for the lower salt amount which enhances foods. Thumbs down for the watered down bland taste when used a soup base.

Love this no sodium option. Use it in gravies, dips, meat rub. You get to control the sodium without sacrificing flavor. Yum.

This product says GLUTEN FREE in large letters right on the front of the jar. Also the ingredients listed in the product description online looked fine to me. Just FYI, I was diagnosed with a wheat allergy several years ago. Anyway, I bought this product and used it without reading the label once I had it at home. My bad I guess, because I got very sick from it. THEN, I read the label and saw the dreaded words "NATURAL MODIFIED FOOD STARCH"... in other words, wheat! I will continue to look for a powdered soup base that doesn't contain wheat... they're very hard to find! I just wanted to warn those who have celiac and/or a wheat allergy like me.

High salt French Onion soup base is so unhealthy. It is good to find one that is flavorful yet healthier.
