Highgrove: An English Country Garden

Just received this wonderful book about Highgrove - it is worth every penny. So well written, with monthly notes by Prince Charles, very informative text by author Bunny Guinness and astounding photographs through all the seasons. You will get so much information and ideas from this book. This garden was already on my "to visit" list, and is very definitely high on that list now. Would recommend this book to any garden enthusiast.

A present to myself and a coffee table book. Every aspect of the garden is presented so well. Every plant is identified and listed and the garden is shown in all the seasons of the year. I love the meadow. I want to plant one. Now to create something like this in Texas with climate change in mind. There will be different plants due to much less rainfall but this book gives lots of ideas for planning and creating lots of lovely peaceful spaces.

I have not done a complete read through of the book but I love the short comments by HRH Prince Charles (Of course I love and admire him...we share the same birth year and birth month!). The pictures are amazing! I especially love the pullout of the meadow...I am an avid gardener too and have a stumpery in my garden but not as grand as his. I look forward to reading this from cover to cover...All in all this is a KEEPER!

Divides the year by months. Uses Latin and common names for plants. Wonderful pictures. Feel I am there. Explains about various structures in garden and its evolution to present state.

Lovely and beautifully written. The photos are stunning and the quality is superb. I do not think this will disappoint any Gardner, but will inspire instead. The info on organically taking care of such a vast estate is amazing. I'm happy to see the true soul and spirit of HRH in his love of gardening. It's wonderful to see his passion of keeping everything natural without chemicals, and nasty unfriendly composites to our environment.

I loved this wonderful book. It is not only an expression of beautiful gardening, but it says a lot about Prince Charles. I loved the way it is presented, using the seasons as a backdrop.It has inspired me to work in my own garden, and whenever I feel tired and hassled with the cares of life, I see the ilustrations of this marvellous book and feel at peace knowning that somewhere in this world there is a corner of beauty and peace.

Let's be clear - I'm not a wealthy gardener who has a couple hundred acres and a permanent staff to trim, mulch, weed and harvest my garden. I'm a pauper compared this HRH chap.... Being an organic gardener, I do appreciate what he has done here. The gardens are quite lovely. And in this book, the HRH is showing off just how wonderful he is - and how marvelous his gardens are - and he's not going to help you even one little sniffle in this book by giving you trimming, mulching or growing tips on any of the plants - and any pictures of the HRH are in nearly all-white clothes with perfectly manicured fingers just to be certain that you know that he'd never dirty his hands by actually WORKING in the gardens. The arrogance and superiority of HRH fairly drips from each page, living in luxury from the sweat of the commoners' brows as he does. But, like I say, I do appreciate the work that went into the gardens - and the book is very nice, even though it does describe some things that are never shown in photos. What a pity the actual gardeners aren't pictured and applauded. After all - they did all the work...

You might as well be in the King's company complete with a pair of secateurs as he guides you gently through the seasons. Delightful book that has beautiful photos, great advice and ideas to steal for my own garden!!A wonderfully talented author and gardener with an amazing appetite for life and nature.

Arrived in Good condition, and absolutely satisfied with the book and the content. Going through seasonal change in landscape.If you love English garden, than just go for it!
