Great For First time Mom or Grandma or Aunt! We used in my Family for Years!
I had first purchased this book when my son was a few months old ( he is now 6!) It starts off with helpful info on organic eating and all the benefits, tips and tricks for purchasing and stalking up the pantry and storing/freezing foods to get the most life out of your foods. All the tricks for hassle free prep. Some of the recipes are no brainers for some. However I found for myself as a new mom in this book there is far more food options and combinations that i would never have thought about giving my son and it was Great to be able to broaden his pallet and the awesome thing is it breaks it down into age appropriate chapters and makes it easier to know when you can introduce new foods and textures.Once my son was done with this book my sister used it when she had her baby and then she gave it back to me to use with my now 16 month old! We are now passing it o to a dear family friend who has a new born. Everyone just loves how useful this book really is!

Organic purees - lots of great ideas! Love this book!
I knew of the "dirty dozen" in terms of pesticide use on produce but this book goes on to list a full 20. Having this knowledge is very important to me. A baby should not be exposed to toxins and as a mom I want my son to be as healthy as possible. As adults we have more mass in order to process toxins so while I have purchased organic for myself before I wasn't diligent about it. In comparison, I notice how much sweeter, true to taste, and delicious organic is! My parents have fruit trees in their backyard making access even easier. 9And gardening with a child is such a rewarding experience!) It is a bit more expensive, but inversely, I eat more produce as it has more appeal. Continuing to eat the very best as I breastfeed, is about setting the right example too. :-) I love the ideas this book gives! Blueberry-banana buckle, melon-cucumber, baby ratatouille, etc! The great tips on fresh vs. frozen and recipe preparations are fantastic. Even making my own rice and oatmeal cereals. I love to cook and it is tremendously satisfying to make food for my lil man. I taste each recipe and even share with another mom. I've seen other books in the store but this one caught my eye the best. It's laid out by month and stage so you know when you can begin combining food and introducing proteins. Buying organic and making your own food vs. buying those little organic jars at 65 cents each is no contest! I can easily get 3x the amount for the same price. Fantastic book! I'm sending it as a gift to a friend who just had a daughter...

Perfect for first time baby food making parents
I really enjoyed this book. Taught me a lot about how to make SIMPLE recipes. Most of the recipes take very little time and effort, and not a lot of 'weird' veggies/fruits/mixes. If you are looking for something that teaches you how to make baby food, which ones you can freeze, and also walk you through cooking family meals for baby and parents, this book is for you. I loved how it details out which food to buy, why to buy certain foods over others (i.e. organic), and gives you a menu to follow. Perfect for first time parents (or even first time making baby food parents). The one thing I didn't completely agree with is the lack of spices, BUT it made me feel more comfortable when I was first getting the hang of what to feed my baby. I really enjoyed learning with this book. I recommend this book to all my mom friends, and am even buying it as a gift for baby showers. Can't stress enough on how much this book helped me!

Great Buy!
This book is a great buy for moms wanting to make their own food. It is well written. It starts with an introduction into purees so you know what you're doing. Then talks about how to do everything properly so you don't make your baby sick. The recipes are great. The recipes are broken up into age groups so you don't introduce something to your little one too soon. The illustrations are fabulous. I used it for my firstbaby mostly. My first was great at eating, she love the pasta recipe on page 150 the most. My second was so picky and a couldn't get him to eat most foods so it didn't get used much.

AWESOME book for making simple, nutritious purees for babies as they grow. SIMPLE for beginners, GREAT for baby!
I can't recommend this book highly enough. My parents, who are visiting, just made some of the recipes with me, and said 'I wish we would have thought of this when you were little!' It's fun, colorful, and very time efficient when you do it a few times. I make a few batches together. I love using the Mumi and Bubi trays - super efficient - 42 oz, easy to remove and store cubes each time. I have two sets now!I've given this book as a gift, and I just love to read it in those rare spare moments. The receipes are super simple and come with just the right hints and tips. LOVE IT! Oh, and baby loves the food too - I guess that's important to note here! She's just over 6 months and has already tried sweet potatoes (favorite), apples (first one I made), pears, peaches, broccoli, peas, squash - 3 kinds! - and more. We have eggplant, melon, cucumber and more frozen and ready! Oh - and if you have a Vitamix, it is hands down the way to go - super smooth. We started with the blender (had both) and now just use the Vitamix. Fantastic.

Great ideas! Really gave me a solid place to start.
Starting your baby on solid foods is overwhelming. I found myself grabbing everything at the grocery store excited to introduce her to all of it. A recipe book seems totally silly, but it helped me take a step back and slowly introduce things in an orderly fashion. Do you need this book? Of course not. But if you find the idea of introducing foods overwhelming then this is a great jumping off point. I love that I can make my own rice cereal and oatmeal cereal for my baby. Which Incould have done anyway I guess but I probably would have bought it if it hadn’t been for this book. It really is a great guide with a lot of ideas. I would never have guessed you could purée a baby 201 different ways!

So helpful!
When I decided to make purées for my baby I knew that it would be helpful to have a recipe book so that I didn’t have to hunt down recipes myself. This book is great! It has tons of recipes based on age and consistency, and I love the included day by day menus of suggestions to feed baby. This has made it so much easier for me to make purées!
