Terrific Lightweight Trimmer! Makes Sharp Cuts!
I was hesitant to get an electric trimmer because, I had one many years ago and it shredded everything instead of making clean cuts. That is not the case with this trimmer. As a lifetime “do everything manually” person, I am only sorry that I waited so many years to get another power trimmer. It really makes very short work of what used to take hours. The BLACK+DECKER Hedge Trimmer, 22-Inch (BEHT350FF) package arrived in 10 days and was well packed. Easy to put together. My long, power extension cord fits without problems. The electric cord retainer also works well.I’ve used this B & D trimmer now for a few days on various shrubs and ornamental grasses. It works great! The cuts are very clean and not raggedy. The instructions state that there is no need to oil or sharpen the blades, (unless these get damaged)—which is a real plus.If approached slowly, the trimmer can handle fairly large branches of more than a quarter inch in diameter. (The claim is that the trimmer will cut branches up to ¾ inch. I shall test that out on some large junipers shortly.)It is a bit noisy for me so I’ve been using earplugs until some noise reduction earmuffs arrive. The trimmer is light enough to allow use for long periods. The 22” blade is just the right length for me.As a female, of advanced age, I very much like the safety feature of having to engage both the lock switch and the power “trigger” switch at the same time. It is easy to do and not fatiguing for me. (It is possible that if one has serious arthritis or other issues in the hands, this feature could be a literal pain.) Use of the trimmer with one hand could be dangerous. Thus, the dual safety/power switch makes that awkward, but not impossible for someone with a strong arm.Overall, thus far, I am very satisfied with the B & D trimmer. I hope that the machine will last!

A rugged trimmer at a fair price...
Plugs into an electric outlet for unlimited hours of operation! The trend these days is to selling cordless tools and yard equipment which run off rechargeable batteries. Problem is, if you have several hours of work, the batteries die and the unit gradually loses its spunk until you take a time out to put the battery on a charger for a while. Yes, you can buy a spare battery and constantly play Musical Chairs with the charger, but why put yourself through all that? Rechargeable tools are generally more costly than their corded counterparts, and their power gradually fades over the years until you have to purchase another couple battery packs, which five years down the road, are generally obsolete or cost what you paid for the whole unit initially. For the cost savings of a corded unit and spare batteries, you can buy a nice 100 foot extension cord and have constant, full power operability for hours and years to come. This unit is powerful with a longer arm that cuts wider branches than others in its category. It does a great job mowing down thick blackberry bushes as well as conventional hedges. Unlike some Asian brands, Black and Decker backs its products. I owned its predecessor for 10 years before it met its demise trying to cut through a misplaced grounding rod. Never needed lubrication or maintenance. The new unit has been running flawlessly, and I'm looking forward to another decade of reliable trimming. I'm 71, so this unit might just outlive me!

Powerful and Lightweight
This trimmer seemed a bit heavy until I installed the handle. Once that was done, it proved to be remarkably easy to use, and surprisingly light.- It has strong double-sided blades that cut easily and effectively.Note: Not all trimmers have double sided blades. I found this out when researching battery operated hedge trimmers. I eliminated the battery-operated models after finding them to be pricey for anything that comes close to this electric model. I'm happy with the purchase.

Works well, Bigger than I thought and Trims fast
I got this thinking I could trim some hedges by myself, and I was surprised about how easy it is to use. There is some slight assembly required and dealing with the cord is an issue but it works like a champ. The blade is mean looking and it cuts like butter even the thicker branches. So far so good.
