What's a journal you can't properly write on?
I received this journal as a gift after my brother went to Universal, after called me on the phone and vaguely asked what my favorite house was.The paper of the journal is extremely slick, and doesn't accept ink all that well. None of my fountain pens can be used with this journal, and most other pens will necessitate you blowing on the book like a maniac in order to make sure you don't smudge the ink while writing the next line. It's frustrating, since you would think such a fancy Harry Potter journal could accept ink from a quill. As advertised, the cover is faux leather. It's already... chipping? Whenever little flecks of the fake leather start pulling off of the clothe underneath. It's only seen use for three months at this point, and it generally stays in my backpack. The only benefit to the covering of the book is the giant metal crest, which is where I assume all of the effort went. This journal looks beautiful, but attempting to use it like, well, a journal, risks damaging it. The pages are awful for writing. I've bought other journals for $15 dollars less and they've all been real leather. I've been told they were charging for that big metal crest, and I believe it. The metal may be cheap, but souvenirs are pretty expensive, especially when it comes to Harry Potter stuff. This journal simply isn't worth the asking price.
