HTC Dot View Case for HTC One (M8) - Retail Packaging - Imperial Blue

This is an excellent, highly innovative case that protects the phone and screen from scratches and dirt. It does not, however, offer much by way of impact protection. When the case is closed, with the flap covering the screen, the phone operates in a special limited mode with just a few essential functions available: you can tell the time, answer or decline calls, talk and listen, and use voice commands all through the closed mesh cover which cunningly has a membrane over most of the back, but full perforations over the microphone and speakers. This turns out to be very useful: the blocky graphics visible through the dot view cover are quite visible in bright daylight, and yet not too intrusive if you check the time in a darkened room. The graphics shining through the case still attracts comments from people - even my Apple obsessed kids like it! You can also listen to music or podcasts with the cover closed: the speakers face upwards so aren't compromised if you just lay the phone on your desk. I also liked that the phone itself can be easily popped out of the case; the HTC aluminium case of the M8 is a joy to hold, and reading on the couch or in bed is comfortable with the case removed. There's a magnet embedded in the cover inside the HTC logo that tells the phone when the case is closed. And, one last thing, if you slip the flap underneath a coffee cup, the case can hold the phone in a great position for video watching!

Bought this to replace my OEM dot view case, and if this isn't an OEM case, I can't tell. My original case had a corner piece crack when I dropped it. (phone is fine, far as I'm concerned, case did it's job. I like this case for more than the novelty of the dot view functionality, which is cool, but the case covers my screen when in my purse or pocket, providing good protection. The color is bright and unique, making it easy to find in a bag, and is slim. It's not an otterbox, but I am not too tough on my phone, so it works for my purposes. Dot view functionality is perfect, and I don't have a huge issue with the flap. The silicone flap and rounded back work to make a good makeshift 'stand' on my dash when I have the car app on in my vehicle. The flap pushes the phone at a good viewing angle to flip songs, etc. And it doesn't slide.

I give this case three stars for the "cool" factor, because everyone comments about it. It's nice to know what kind of messages I'm getting without opening the case and the functionality with a music player is also a nice feature. The front of the case is very grippy, so if I want to keep it from sliding around on a surface, I flip the phone on its front. Now to the cons. I have never had a flip case before and this one drives me nuts. I need two hands to make this work and struggle to answer texts with one hand since it is always trying to shut. Even if I attempt to prop the case open, it doesn't lay flat and kind of bounces because if the rubber material that the case it's made of. I figured this case was pretty durable since it felt nice in the hand, but if you drop your phone, it basically ejects your phone across the ground. Not good. Recently, the case started to rip on the fold, but was fine for about a week. Now the rip is nearly three inches long and the case no longer stays shut in my pocket abd catches on things,causing it to rip more. Also, in the case, my phone was trying to randomly call people and Google voice search things when it was in my pocket. I use my phone to track my runs and have to remove it from the case in order to get it into my arm holster. I also have to take it out of the case in order to dock it in my car. All of these are big issues to me and are why I have invested in a different case. I am not buying another one of these cases, but the lower price is nice.

My husband bought this case for his phone when he first received the phone. He dropped and broke the case. I purchased from Amazon for Christmas for him to replace the other. This case is great! Being able to see who calls, answer, view weather, among other things, all without opening phone was a big draw for him. His screen is protected, but still have a nice phone case without the bulk that other phone cases have. Also got for a fraction of the cost! Would buy this product again

Exactly what the picture shows. It fits perfectly and even though it did not close completely at first, it closes fine now. Bigger question is about whether or not this kind of case is right for you. I like it because it protects the screen, but I do find that using the phone one handed takes some getting used to since the cover does not fold flat against the back of the device. I also find the Dot View functionality imperfect. It gets attention, but does not always work as I want it to. Recommend this case with those caveats. Just make sure you are getting a good price. It's certainly not worth the $49 retail price.

I think these cases are INGENIOUS, and I love the blue color. I still don't understand how it works. It has no battery of any sort, looks so simple, and yet my HTC One can detect when it's on and works accordingly. Amazing! The package also arrived earlier than anticipated, which is always great, and packaging was perfect.

I've had this case for a couple weeks now and while it would get 5 stars for coolness, I can only give it one for functioning as a phone case. First it offers little to no protection for my phone and I now have a cracked screen to prove it! The dot cover that is neat to view acts as a spring when folded behind the phone. Loosen your grip a bit and the case will launch your beautiful M8 out of your hand and onto the floor, where the case will promptly dislodge from the phone after the first bounce, leaving your phone totally unprotected for the second. My advice. Skip cool and go for functional protection! I hope this review stops one person from suffering damage to their phone.

Nice HTC case

Works perfect. Love it, quite nifty, great deal for the price. Case lid is quite a bit more snap-back than my last HTC case (the grey one in a similar style but without the dot features) which in some ways is annoying but in other ways is really appreciated. If nothing else, it works nicely as a sort of mini-stand when laying the phone flat on its back. REALLY enjoy that I can answer the phone without having to fight to open the case, it sits a lot more comfortably against my ear.

Fue una sorpresa grata el encontrar la Dotview Case para el One M8 y a buen precio. No soy muy fan de las flip case, y menos de traerlo en un dispositivo como el HTC One, pero la propuesta es interesante y se ve de lujo en lugares con poca luz. Mi única preocupación sería que la rigidez de la parte trasera fuera a afectar la integridad del dispositivo a largo plazo, espero no sea así.
