OMAX - FBA_CS-A36CALM1 0.01mm Microscope Camera Calibration Slide (Stage Micrometer)

I used this slide to calibrate my microscope camera so that I will know the size of things that I take pictures of under the microscope. There is a 1mm long etching that is divided into 100 parts. The distance from one line to the next is 10 µm. By taking a picture of this calibration slide with each of the microscope objectives, you can calculate the size of objects by knowing which objective lens was used while taking the picture. It's sort of a one-time-use item but if I get a new microscope objective or a new camera, I can use this slide to calibrate that.

When someone broke the calibration slide for our microscope at work I was extremely happy to find one listed at such a great price on Amazon. When the slide arrived it was in a very nice carrying case, and it works perfectly.

It was quite difficult to locate the small target zone under field conditions, but the markings are sharp. I can't vouch for the calibration without having compared against an expensive standard, but it matched almost exactly against another similar product.

I used this reticle to directly check the magnification of a digital microscope. The image of the reticle can be directly measure on the screen. (I found that the advertisement of the microscope in question contained an exaggeration.) With this information, the sizes of objects being viewed can be calculated directly. Of course, magnification is only half of the practical question -- the other half being resolution. With the clean lines on the reticle, one can get an idea of that too, but seeing by how many pixels the sharp line edges are blurred on the screen.

This slide has a one millimeter scale, subdivided into tenths and hundredths (i.e. ten-microns). You can imagine, therefore, that the graduation lines are quite thin. Despite this, the outline of those graduations is precise and clear. Does the job well, and easy to use because of that clarity.

Great slide and excellent image. Even better price for such an important tool to calibrate your microscope reticle or IA software.

The ruler is a thick film metalization layer on the glass. This makes the quality much higher than the optically exposed film slide that I broke and had to replace! Nice!
