For a club with the notoriety and profile of Leeds United there have been relatively few comprehensive histories written. The club turns 100 this year, and for my money this is the best history I have read so far. Chapman sets up the history of the game in Leeds, early clubs, the brief rise and fall of the club's predecessor Leeds City and the formation of Leeds United from the ashes. Many of the previous histories tend to rush over the early years as unimportant or uneventful, mostly due to records lost during the fire of 1956. Chapman has researched other sources and really done a good job of bringing the 1919-1956. All eras are given equal time and coverage. A very good and enjoyable read for any Leeds United or indeed sports history fan.

A well written documentation of the worlds leading Association Football Club. A story so fantastic that it could be made into a Hollywood blockbuster. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

Very readable history. I should just say I am a Leeds United fan, so do not read it objectively! For those enjoying the episodes in current Leeds programmes this book is a must, as those are abridged versions and here they are fully expanded. I honestly was sceptical about getting another new Leeds United history, but there is something very engaging about the author's style, so it makes for an interesting read. It also includes plenty of snippets I did not know before. Perfect Christmas present for Leeds fans. Every fan should buy a copy and learn the history of our club, especially in its centenary year.

The size of this book is extraordinary for the price. This will last me a very, very long time.Currently got through quite a few chapters and I'm hooked thus far. Very detailed and interesting, a brilliant writing style.My only criticism is that I can't stop reading. Great book.

Absolutely loved the style of writing and how the club history is charted against events in history , war years etc.....so much detail researched it is amazing …..have started third reading.

Usual Leeds United story. Mr Chapman as done well for himself. Fanzine contributor to book author and weekly local newspaper columnist.Personally I don't think he's any thing special. Lad who does fans predictions and match reports is way better and done with humour and originality.MoscowWhite, it usually is in the winter.
