Well designed lightscreen which has thoughtful features which work very well.
Fabulous product. I purchased this lightscreen for my daughter as I was fed up with retrieving mine from her bedroom all the time. I use mine all the time for various artwork functions and until I received this one I was perfectly happy with it;however, this one has the edge on features and functionality. My lightscreen (which incidentally, retails on Amazon at the same price as this) goes up in brightness in set levels. This lightbox is better; it gradually increases in brightness as you press the control pad, so you have a much better control over it. As with my other lightbox, the on/off/brightness control is just one button. The button on this lightbox is situated in a similar place but it must not be as sensitive, as I would accidentally lean on the touch pad area of my other lightscreen whilst I was working, and switch it off. Very frustrating. I haven't done that with this one!The screen is white, whereas my other lightbox has small dots printed onto it (presumably to reduce the glare although it makes little difference and in fact makes the screen a little less bright). I prefer the screen on this one.The clip provided with this lightbox is essential; do not underestimate the usefulness of having a decent clip to keep your paper in place! It's actually one of the big reasons I chose this particular light box from the listings. I looked at lightscreens without them and looked at the prices of a clip on it's own. It's not cost effective to buy them separately. This comes with a clip which is big enough to adequately secure any paper, and which opens wide enough to clip onto the board. It's also plastic, so it won't damage the screen. My other board has a sharp metal clip and I have to be careful with it.The bottom of this lightscreen has anti-slip feet, another big tick. The screen draws it's power from a USB cable. You can make it portable by using a power bank, if you desire, otherwise it needs attaching via a plug adaptor for a wall socket, a computer/laptop port, or a USB hub. Finally, there's a printed ruler around the edge of the board. This is actually surprisingly useful if you need to select a very set area measurement of print to trace onto paper.I've given my daughter my old lightscreen, as this one is so much more useful and better designed.I tried to take a short video to show the gradual screen brightness setting but unfortunately my camera kept adjusting the brightness to a constant, so you can't see the changes. Instead, I've added some photographs which I hope will be useful.

Not as bright as hoped
It’s not as bright as I had hoped. Works better if the room is dark, but in a normal daylight you can hardly see the light at all.

Very lightweight, which is good and bad
I bought this light pad to use to trace embroidery designs with, and it works reasonably well for this. It is bright enough, unless I'm using coloured or particularly thick paper; and it's reasonably easy to switch on and off, and to adjust the brightness up and down. However, there are problems. It's very easy to switch off accidentally, just by brushing the on/off area (it's not a switch, just a marked area on the black strip at the top of the light pad). I've lost count of the number of times I've done this, despite the on/off touch pad being on the right of the top of the board, and me being left handed. There's not much of a difference between the brightest and dimmest settings. And for me, this is the worst aspect of this light board: it's incredibly flimsy. Within a few days of receiving this the black strip along the top had bent back and come loose, and the USB cable included with it had bent where the metal part that plugs into the board meets the plastic part of the cable. I didn't do anything to cause this break, I was just using it and it was suddenly loose. It still worked, and I was on a deadline, so I didn't send it back: instead my lovely son glued it all back together and found me a new cable, and I hoped it would be fine. However, it now seems to come apart whenever I use it, and I don't think it'll last much longer. Not good, considering I've not yet had it for two months. To sum up, yes, it works as it should; but it's very lightweight, very flimsy, and it really shouldn't have broken as it did; and the dimming feature isn't that impressive; but it was so cheap perhaps I shouldn't complain!Once this one breaks for good--which I don't think will take much longer--I'll replace it with a more expensive, sturdy version.(For those of you who are interested, it does have a dark grid over the light, with little holes punched in, which is hidden behind an acrylic or plastic screen, but I don't find that this interferes with its use at all, and when I use it I don't see the little dots or holes. Just a smooth white light.)

I couldn't really have asked for more, and honestly I expected less.
I couldn't really have asked for more, and honestly I expected less.It is a very good price, yet still works exactly as it should and feels pretty good quality. It also came with a micro-USB wire, and a clip to hold things to its surface, which I didn't expect since usually this sort of thing provides the bare minimum. It even came with a warranty redemption card that promised a free gift, a stand for the light table so it can be angled instead of just flat against the table. I feel compelled to mention that the only catch is you need to post a review to redeem said gift- hence what you are reading- BUT I was likely going to anyway since I put a lot of stock in reviews when buying things and would feel bad not "giving back" for other buyers, and anyway, they never said explicitly or even implicitly that it had to be a good review. However, as I said, I was going to give it a good review anyway, so here it is.

Great value lightboard for home artists
Lightboard just as described, packaged well and arrived quickly. Really can't get over how thin it is - takes up no space at all in my bag.It works great straight out of the box and is bright enough to allow working at my desk under the skylight, though a slightly dimmer room works best. The free clip that was included was a nice thought, but i like to use masking tape on all four sides so i know for sure nothing is moving out of place at all.My only slight quibble is that the control button doesn't always seem to respond as expected. Sometimes the board brightens, sometimes it dims, sometimes it switches off.. It's not a massive problem as I just keep pressing it until it does what I want.Overall, incredibly good value for the money.
