This is DISH branded, and new in the original blisterpak! Dated 2015, but not surprised as it is an older model, not used on Dish Networks newer equipment! That being said...it works Perfectly. A wonderful solution!
I recently bought an Onkyo surround system that apparently is not compatible with my Dish network remotes. I called Dish, and they could not help me (I have no idea why they did not mention this remote!). I shuddered at the thought of having to keep multiple remotes around. I was researching learning remotes when I found this one. The price was very reasonable, so I took a chance. It is a PERFECT SOLUTION. Not only can I program it for my surround system, but I can customize any button to make it do what I want. For instance, I can use this remote to switch inputs, and I get to select what buttons I want to use to do it. I liked it so much, I bought a second one (so me and my wife will stop fighting for it!). I would give it a perfect 5 of 5 stars, but there is one flaw. They added a row of colored buttons in the middle of the remote 'for future use'. It does not seem like a big deal, but it is. It increases the distance between the volume buttons and the DVR buttons just enough to make you have to stretch your fingers a bit more to reach. Sometimes I have to slide my hand up the remote to reach the volume, then back down to the DVR. Without that extra row, it would have been perfect - like the DISH 6.0 remotes. However, I am more than willing to suffer that small inconvenience in order to enjoy the features of this remote. And for the price (roughly $20), how can you go wrong?

Might work after all if you let it download the receiver's data.
OK, I got one in and it did not take the code from the receiver right away so I ordered a replacement from amazon (Great service on their part btw). The replacement came in and did the same thing with my 622 receiver. So, time for research on my end to find out why. Turns out, that they have to be RESET before they will take a code. This was done by my 722 (the only receiver that would show the System Wizard by pressing and holding the '0' button on the remote).Went through and set it up as TV1 on the 722. Then and only then was I able to take the first remote into the Bedroom where the 622 was and where the remote stopped working on TV1. Pressed the system info on the receiver itself and then the record button on the remote and let it be programmed. It worked. The second remote that I decided to keep (so no sending one back), will be used in the Front Room on the HDTV receiver. Fortunately, it worked without doing the system wizard. Pressed the system info on the receiver, etc...One star off because neither of the remotes will do TV2 as advertised (yes, followed the directions). And here is the crazy part, even with the switch in both remotes in the UHF position, they still switch channels on TV1, the IR part of the receiver which leads me to believe that the little switch inside the remotes are not working (and yes, I double and tripple checked that they were switched to the full travel). So, if the remote you get does not work, try holding down the '0' button on the remote to see if you get the system wizard up and if not, go ahead and try the system info on the receiver itself (yes, it has to be the one on the receiver, not the one on the remote), press the record on the remote and see what happens. You might get lucky and get it to work.

I could not be Happier with this product!
Works even better than described and very-very fast FREE shipping! Received within 48 hour of order. Works very well with VIP 722K DVR. Ordered 2 additional remotes, using with original for 3 room control of DVR TV-2. Programming instructions for multi remote use are found different than what was supplied. Link [...]Addressing the remote to your receiver.1. Press the system info button on the front of your receiver to access the system info screen.2. Press and hold down the SAT button on the remote until all the lights are lit.3. Enter a number 1-15 on the remote keypad. **The number on your screen next to the TV-2 UHF**4. Press the pound(#) button once.5. Press the record button 3 times.6. Select done on the system info screen and test the functionality.I also recommend replacing the little antenna on your receiver.Use a cable with a F type connector at the receiver and open at the other end. I ran my cable approx.. 50' through center of basement ceiling and remotes work in every room without lag or lost signal.Ordering 2 additional remotes allowed me to use my VIP 722K DUO like a hopper, I just split the TV-2 signal and ran throughout my house (all the split signals are the same as TV-2). 2 extra rooms of TV without the extra cost.***EDIT UPDATE***2/11/2014 So happy with current setup, now ordered enough to make every TV in house work with DVR rather than with solo receiver.

Great remote with battery cover issues
I was torn between giving this 3 or 4 stars because i have bought 2 of these remotes. The first one was perfect and has lasted but the second one has a problem with the slide on back for the batteries, it's ill fitting and really loose and takes the least amount of effort for to slide right off, I dare not drop it cause the backing will go flying. So frustrating. I gave it 3 stars for inconsistent quality. if it were not for the backing issue I would with out hesitation given a 4 maybe even 5 stars
