Yes, why do we?
Why do we destroy the things that we love most? This message on the back cover is what made me buy the book. Although there are many other interesting issues, the reading caused me to face the question and come to my own conclusions. Would you consider doing the same?As usual, Paulo is able to grab the reader's attention with his talented writing and unique ideas.

Not what I was expecting after reading the Alchemist
I wouldn't suggest this book, but it could be just where I am at on my path in life. I did not find it particularly interesting or inspiring. I kept reading though hoping it was going to get better. One interesting part to me though from the perspective that it was based on events from his actual life supposedly, kind of scary actually, he was into..I will call it the "dark side" of things before coming over to the "other side" and it tells about his experience and how it led to his path to the good side. Otherwise I did not get much from the book.Oh the most positive thing I took from the book which I never thought about before is when you look up and towards the horizon it changes your view of everything vs looking slightly down or straight ahead......I guess that applies literally and figuratively also as in positive uplifting thoughts vs negative thoughts.

Enlightening
The Valkyries continues Paulo Coelho's series of books on self-discovery, spiritual questing, love and relationships. It is the largely autobiographical account of Coelho's quest to speak to and see his guardian angel - as facilitated by both his wife and a mysterious group of motorcycle riding women known as the Valkyries. The path to self discovery takes Coelho through both light and darkness, and forces him to confront his own demons as well as angels. Only through self awareness, self-understanding, accepting forgiveness, breacking a pact and making a bet is he able to finally achieve his quest. The common theme of balance, unity, love and acceptance is ever present in the book, as are the threads of esotericism and the occult that really weren't in the Alchemist, but are very evident here.A good, entertaining and enlightening read.

Good Spiritual Story
Book arrived in excellent condition and would most certainly purchase from this book seller again.Story is very interesting; have been enjoying another of Paula Coelho's pieces of writing, though a bit more simplistic in it'sprose than was his book The Alchemist.

Awesome Read
I enjoyed this this book very much, I found it to be inspiring, interesting and extremely deep. Definitely a book to read and reflect on...I love how Paulo shares his personal life experiences and is so open about his inner deep loves and fears. A lesson for many of us, to say the least.

a dreamers voyage of discovery.
What I like about Paulo Coelho is that he is unafraid to dream. He sees the world with the wonder of a child and the wisdom of an older man.His quixotic brand of mysticism is in my view best expressed in The pilgrimage which remains for me his greatest work but The Valkyries is a good read just the same.It portrays two peoples fascination with the world and their attempt to grow spiritually or as he puts it to find their angel. It is written in a fine free flowing style and is like a fine wine.

and especially startling if you read and loved The Alchemist
This work is a departure for Coehlo, and especially startling if you read and loved The Alchemist. This is much more a fantasy, but is loaded with Catholic dogma, but rich in quotable passages, that make Coelho a gifted writer. I had difficulty with believing that all of this actually transpired, which he says is true, at the end of the story. If you're a fan of his, he doesn't disappoint in terms of being able to glean pearls of wisdom, but be prepared for a wild ride while possibly suspending belief.

The astonishing depth of simplicity
Coelho, to me, has this way of taking his poetry and weaving it in a way that can be understood by all, but truly and deeply understood by only those who decide to dig a little deeper into their own souls. Inspiring, transformative, and astonishingly beautiful, this story of spiritual quest left me settling more soothingly into my faith in this world, in the invisible, and in my own magic.

Gripping
I read and loved the Alchemist and Paul o Coelho's style of developing ones spiritual growth through storytelling and bought this book. I was expecting a fiction story not a personal story but once it I started i was captivated and didn't put it down till it finished.

Loved reading the book
I am no good at writing reviews just know that I liked the pilgrimage and the alchemist by Paulo Coelho so bought this title too and also enjoyed it. I like the way paulo writes and find it a pleasure to read his books as well as the lessons of love, life and humanity that he brings me to contemplate and I feel I learn from reading them about myself my own strengths, fears and dreams.

Very poor quality paper and print for the cost
Very poor quality paper and print for the cost. Disappointing for such a wonderful content. I paid extra to keep this book on the shelf, I regret it. I have more books on the way I just hope they are of better quality. This is the first Amazon purchase I am disappointed with.
