Van Gogh (Ready to Paint the Masters) Paperback – March 10, 2010

I’m on my third painting in this book. Easy to follow directions.

I have done several painting from this book, which turned out very well. I love these kinds of books for my watercoloring.

Excellent book. If you will only try and believe that this will help, it will. I painted all these using watercolor and learned how to better layer my watercolors by following this book.

The paintings in this book are so far from Van Gogh. I was dissatisfied with my own work when using these techniques. I would recommend painting from a copy of the VanGogh, it is much better.

Wonderful book!

An interesting way of discovering how Van Gogh worked and also a good indication of just how hard it is to create a masterpiece! Because some people saw the work in progress (see attached image) I received the "painting by numbers" comment, which I did not appreciate! I consider it more a matter of following a recipe, and having completed a couple of the pictures at several hours each, the book is amazing value for money.I think I'll go and become Turner now.

This is such a great idea and so simple, its like paint by numbers for adults.It has ready made tracings of one of the great painters. Just trace onto canvas and hey presto you are half way there, it tells you how to go from beginning to the end. This is great for all budding artists who would rather not do the drawing stage. They also do other books of great masters.

A fun book with some interesting exercises but if you're hoping to be able to paint like Vincent Van Gogh at the end of it you'll be wasting your money. After all it hasn't worked for the author, whose "Van Gogh" paintings look nothing like master.

It is a good introduction book for someone trying out acrylic, I have just painted the sunflowers - moving on the next one! I like the choices of Van Gogh's paintings in the book.
