I have bought these several times. They're always very clean and well packaged. I usually soak them overnight then put one teaspoon in a smoothie. But they can be sprouted. I found if I take more than a teaspoon of them I may get a sore throat the next day. This may be a reaction unique to me. I sprouted some of them and have moved them into my garden. All parts of this plant are edible and have health benefits. For a while I was removing the thistles from the leaves before they go into my smoothie but I have found that the Vitamix blender totally destroys the thistles and I blend them with the rest of the leaf.

I am happy to have found an organic source for our supplement.Starwest Botanicals sells the seed in whole and powdered form. I use my Vitamix blender to grind the whole seeds. The powder does not dissolve in liquid; it's like sand, so usually I have to swish some water around in my drinking glass to get all the grit out of the bottom to drink down. I add the powder to apple juice or include it in my smoothies. It has no taste, so it's easy to take.

I am a head and neck cancer survivor and the Chemo and Radiation has left me with other health issues. Less than one year after surgery, radiation and chemo my gall bladder burst. I recovered from that and the painful issue with my liver started. After several scans and a lot of consultations with medical professionals, it was decided that nothing could be done with the spot on my liver and not medication was available for the pain the spot caused. I use a pressure cooker for the hot water extraction to make a tea from the seeds. I put 1/2 gallon of water and small hand full of Milk Thistle Seeds and pressure for one hour. I take about 2 ounces of the Milk Thistle Tea daily. I have been taking the tea for a couple of months now and I do not feel any pain from my liver.

This is a product my pets get every day, ground up with Tumeric and MCT powdered coconut. They cannot taste the tumeric with this, and so far these products are helping them remove toxins from their bodies and helping them stay balanced. They get some other supplements, but this Milk Thistle is the ONLY one my holistic veterinarian will recommend and sell. He does his research so I know this is the best product. I reviewed this product before but can't find my review to change it.I had ordered the wrong seeds, I wanted ground to powder ones. . .but it was my fault. . .However this company is great and they even refunded my money and not only that they said I could keep the seeds. . .I plan to grind them as I encapsulate all my herbs, as most herbs seem to work better in our systems that way.tthis company is super; I made a mistake and ordered the full seeds instead of the ground to powder ones and the company refunded my money and said I could keep the seeds, so I will grind them myself. Sure can't ask more than that.

I love that it's whole seed so when I grind it right before adding to my smoothies I know it's fresh and I'm getting the full benefits. Extracts usually have alcohol, pill forms take a while to digest and if your taking many supplements in pill forms, this can be a paid. I love grounding it in powder form and hitting my system much faster, I also add it to my salads over the top. I usually just eyeball what I use and this package has lasted me for over a month, on and off using it 2 to 3 times a day and about 3-4 times a week. This is now a new staple in my health regimen, especially since now I eat for my blood type and this is Highly beneficial for it.
